Openeth not - He knows not how to speak acceptably, and profitably in the publick assembly. \nProverbs 24:8\n \npro 24:8\nShall be called - Though he cover his wicked devices with fair pretences, he shall be branded with that infamy which is due to him. \nProverbs 24:9\n \npro 24:9\nThe thought - The very inward thought or contrivance of evil, is a sin in God's sight. \nProverbs 24:11\n \npro 24:11\nDeliver - When it is in thy power. Drawn - By the violence of lawless men. \nProverbs 24:12\n \npro 24:12\nConsider - That this is only a frivolous excuse. \nProverbs 24:13\n \npro 24:13\nEat - This is not a command, but a concession, and is only here expressed to illustrate the following verse. Honey in those parts was an usual food. \nProverbs 24:14\n \npro 24:14\nA reward - It is not only sweet for the present, but brings a sure and everlasting reward. \nProverbs 24:16\n \npro 24:16\nFalleth - Into calamities, of which he evidently speaks both in the foregoing verse, and in the following branch of this verse. Fall - Frequently into irrecoverable destruction. \nProverbs 24:17\n \npro 24:17\nFalleth - Into mischief. \nProverbs 24:18\n \npro 24:18\nFrom him - Understand, upon thee, which is implied in the Hebrew phrase. \nProverbs 24:20\n \npro 24:20\nNo reward - All his happiness shall quickly and eternally perish. The candle - All their comfort and glory shall cease. \nProverbs 24:21\n \npro 24:21\nTo change - That are unstable in their obedience to God or to the king. \nProverbs 24:22\n \npro 24:22\nWho knoweth - Who can conceive how sore and sudden will be the ruin of them that fear not God, and the king. \nProverbs 24:23\n \npro 24:23\nThese - The counsels following, to the end of the chapter, no less than those hitherto mentioned, are worthy of their consideration. \nProverbs 24:25\n \npro 24:25\nRebuke - That publickly and judicially rebuke and condemn the wicked.
