She brought to them many\n special treasures from the Outer Realms to enrich their lives.\n She gave them the art of Smithcraft, Poetry, and Inspiration.\n Brighid also shared a sacred Cauldron that overflowed with\n inspiration and love. She was adept at the healing arts, and in\n the Magick of Medicine. Her people loved her deeply, and kindled\n a fire in her honor which was constantly attended by nineteen\n maidens, and was never allowed to go out.\n \n The Lady Brighid eventually became a mother, and her people\n rejoiced, knowing their lands would be fruitful just as their\n Goddess was fertile. However, Brighid also knew the misery of\n loss. When one of her beloved sons was killed, the whole land\n wept. She lamented so deeply that she invented \"keening,\" the\n mournful song of the bereaved women of Erin. Her Flame burned so\n brightly, however, that happiness soon returned to the land. She\n bestowed upon her people, yet, another gift: The Art of\n Whistling.\n \n However, in the fullness of time, the beloved Lady could no\n longer dwell openly with her people, and she made her home in the\n Sidhe. There, she would dwell close to her people and her land,\n and they could call upon her name at the appointed times, and\n keep her Flame burning within their hearts.\n \n \n The Eternal Flame continues to burn!\n \n \n ................................................................................\n 2556\n \n The following ritual derives from The Mysts of Annwfn Book of\n Shadows, and was publicly conducted by Goddess Moon Rising Coven\n in San Diego, Ca. on Imbolg, 1988, and by The Mysts of Annwfn\n Coven in Mesa, Az. at Pagan Arizona Network's Imbolg celebration\n in 1993.\n \n This ritual appeared in NightScapes, Vol. 1, No. 5 (a journal of\n Magick, Paganism and the Occult).
