The introductory story and the story of the past are the same as in the Nandivis\u0101la-j\u0101taka above 1.\nBut in this case [375] there is the difference that the Bodhisatta was an ox named S\u0101rambha, and belonged to a brahmin of Takkasil\u0101 in the kingdom\nof Gandh\u0101ra. After telling the story of the past, the Master, as Buddha, uttered this stanza:--\nWhen the Master had ended his lesson he identified the Birth by saying, \"\u0100nanda was the brahmin of those days, Uppalava\u1e47\u1e47\u0101 his wife, and I S\u0101rambha.\"\n217:1 No. 28.","title":"The Jataka, Volume I: Book I.--Ekanip\u0101ta: No. 88.
