This is called a well-instructed noble disciple who has risen up out of the bottomless chasm, whose foothold is gained.\"\nWhoever can't endure them\nonce they've arisen --\npainful bodily feelings\nthat could kill living beings --\nwho trembles at their touch,\nwho cries & wails,\na weakling with no resiliance:\nhe hasn't risen up\nout of the bottomless chasm\nor even gained\na foothold.\nWhoever endures them\nonce they've arisen -- \n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 painful bodily feelings\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 that could kill living beings -- \nwho doesn't tremble at their touch:\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 he's risen up\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 out of the bottomless chasm,\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 his foothold is gained.","title":"SN XXXVI.4 Patala Sutta","type":"page"}
