Now here I see\n Their flags, with dragon blazonry,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0All waving in the wind.\n The gentle tinkling of their bells\n Comes to my ear, and surely tells\n They in their chariots, grandly drawn\n By the four steeds of mighty brawn,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Cannot be far behind. p. 310\n3The king soon gets a nearer view.\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The covers red he sees\n Upon their knees, of brilliant hue,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And buskins \u2019neath the knees.\n A grave demeanor all display;\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Son of Heaven approves.\n What to such princes can he say,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Whose presence rapture moves?\n In admiration and delight,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0No grace can he withhold.\n To some he grants new honors bright,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To some confirms the old.\n4The oaks their branches wide extend,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0With leaves thick covered o\u2019er,\n Which thus the roots and trunk defend,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And make them thrive the more.\n So do these princes service do,\n Throughout the land, while they pursue\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The charges to them given.\n The various regions well they guard, p. 311\n Nor think they any labor hard,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To aid the Son of Heaven.\n All blessings on their heads collect.\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And now to court they've brought\n Their ministers who nought neglect,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Strong both in act and thought.\n5The boat is by the rope held fast,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Lest it should float away;\n So round the princes there is cast\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The king's protective stay.\n He looks on them with joy intense;\n He scans their merits to dispense\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0His favors and rewards.\n He makes their happiness his charge;\n Their territories to enlarge,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0As duty he regards.\n To them it is a pleasure rare,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0A happy, joyous time,\n When from their states they here repair,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0To see his court sublime.","title":"The Book of Poetry: Book VII.
