{"collection":"chr","html_url":"https://unchartedknowledge.5gfusion.net/browse/chr/ecf/001/0010691.htm","path":"chr/ecf/001/0010691.htm","source_url":"https://sacred-texts.com/chr/ecf/001/0010691.htm","text":"Then said the prefect Rusticus to Chariton, \u201cTell me further, Chariton, are you also a Christian?\u201d Chariton said, \u201cI am a Christian by the command of God.\u201d Rusticus the prefect asked the woman Charito, \u201cWhat say you, Charito?\u201d Charito said, \u201cI am a Christian by the grace of God.\u201d Rusticus said to Euelpistus, \u201cAnd what are you?\u201d Euelpistus, a servant of C\u00e6sar, answered, \u201cI too am a Christian, having been freed by Christ; and by the grace of Christ I partake of the same hope.\u201d Rusticus the prefect said to Hierax, \u201cAnd you, are you a Christian?\u201d Hierax said, \u201cYes, I am a Christian, for I revere and worship the same God.\u201d Rusticus the prefect p. 306 said, \u201cDid Justin make you Christians?\u201d Hierax said, \u201cI was a Christian, and will be a Christian.\u201d And P\u00e6on stood up and said, \u201cI too am a Christian.\u201d Rusticus the prefect said, \u201cWho taught you?\u201d P\u00e6on said, \u201cFrom our parents we received this good confession.\u201d Euelpistus said, \u201cI willingly heard the words of Justin. But from my parents also I learned to be a Christian.\u201d Rusticus the prefect said, \u201cWhere are your parents?\u201d Euelpistus said, \u201cIn Cappadocia.\u201d Rusticus says to Hierax, \u201cWhere are your parents?\u201d And he answered, and said, \u201cChrist is our true father, and faith in Him is our mother; and my earthly parents died; and I, when I was driven from Iconium in Phrygia, came here.\u201d Rusticus the prefect said to Liberianus, \u201cAnd what say you?
