The following Troparia are from the Canon at Lauds on Septuagesima. (Ode VI. and Ode VIII. Trop. 2, 3.)\n\u03b2\u03c5\u03b8\u1f78\u03c2 \u1f01\u03bc\u03b1\u03c1\u03c4\u03b7\u03bc\u03ac\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd.\nThe abyss of many a former sin\n Encloses me, and bars me in:\n Like billows my transgressions roll:\n Be Thou the Pilot of my soul;\n And to Salvation's harbour bring,\n Thou Saviour and Thou glorious King!\nMy Father's heritage abused,\n Wasted by lust, by sin misused;\n To shame and want and misery brought,\n The slave to many a fruitless thought,\n I cry to Thee, Who lovest men,\n O pity and receive again!\nIn hunger now,\u2014no more possessed\n Of that my portion bright and blest,\n The exile and the alien see\n Who yet would fain return to Thee .\n And save me, Lord, who seek to raise\n To Thy dear love the hymn of praise!\nWith that blest thief my prayer I make,\n Remember for Thy mercy's sake!\n With that poor publican I cry,\n Be merciful, O God most High!\n With that lost Prodigal I fain\n Back to my home would turn again!\nMourn, mourn, my soul, with earnest care,\n And raise to Christ the contrite prayer:\u2014\n O Thou, Who freely wast made poor,\n My sorrows and my sins to cure,\n Me, poor of all good works, embrace,\n Enriching with Thy boundless grace\n[In Mr. Young's book.
