Through sorrow he\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0beheld, at first, his father.\n \u00a0\u00a0Through him at first the Gods attained to godhead, and, meet\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0for sacrifices, were exalted.\n 2Bearing in hands seethed viands, go with Agni to the cope of\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0heaven.\n \u00a0\u00a0Reaching the sky that touches heaven, mix with the company of\n \u00a0\u00a0Gods.\n 3From earth's high ridge to middle air I mounted, and from mid-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0air ascended up to heaven.\n \u00a0\u00a0From the high pitch of heaven's cope I came into the world of\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0light.\n 4Mounting the sky they look not round; they rise to heaven\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0through both the worlds,\n \u00a0\u00a0Sages who paid the sacrifice that pours its streams on every\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0side.\n 5First among all the deities, come forward, thou who art eye of\n \u00a0\u00a0Gods and men, O Agni.\n \u00a0\u00a0Imploring, and accordant with the Bhrigus, to heaven in safety\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0go the sacrificers!\n 6With milk and butter I anoint the mighty, celestial Goat, strong-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0winged, and full of juices.\n \u00a0\u00a0Through him will we attain the world of virtue, ascending to the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0loftiest cope, to heaven.\n 7Set the Goat's head toward the eastern region, and turn his right\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0side to the southern quarter.\n \u00a0\u00a0His hinder part turn to the western quarter, and set his left side\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0to the northern region.\n 8Set the Goat's backbone upmost in the zenith, and lay his belly\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0downward in the nadir; set his midportion in mid-air between\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0them.\n 9O'er the dressed Goat lay a dressed skin to robe him prepared,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in perfect form, with all his members.\n \u00a0\u00a0Rise upward to the loftiest vault of heaven: with thy four feet\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0stand firmly in the regions.","title":"Atharva Veda: Book 4: Hymn 14: Accompanying the sacrifice...","type":"page"}
