Griffith, [1895]\n1The Residue of Sacrifice containeth name, and from, and world:\n \u00a0\u00a0Indra and Agni and the whole universe are comprised therein.\n 2The Residue of Sacrifice holdeth Earth, Heaven, and all that is:\n \u00a0\u00a0The Residue of Sacrifice holdeth sea, waters, Moon, and Wind.\n 3Real, non-real, both are there, Praj\u0101pati, and Death, and\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0strength:\n \u00a0\u00a0Thereon depend the worldly ones: in me are glory Dra and Vra.\n 4The firm, the fast, the strong, the hard, Brahma, the All-creating\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ten.\n \u00a0\u00a0Gods, as a wheel about the nave, are fixed all round the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Residue.\n 5Verse, Song, and Sacrificial Text, chanting, the prelude, and the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0laud,\n \u00a0\u00a0The hum is in the Residue, the tone, the murmur of the psalm.\n 6Within the Residue, like babes unborn, the parts of sacrifice,\n \u00a0\u00a0Aindr\u0101gne P\u0101vam\u0101na lie. Mah\u0101n\u0101mn\u012b, Mahavrata.\n 7The V\u0101japeya, Royal Rite, the Agnishoma and its forms,\n \u00a0\u00a0Hymns, joyfullest with living grass the Asvamedha, are therein,\n 8Diksh\u0101 and Agny\u0101dheya rite that sates the wish, with magic-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0hymn,\n \u00a0\u00a0Suspended rites, long sessions, are contained within the Residue.\n 9Faith fire-oblation, fervent zeal, service, and sacrificial cry,\n \u00a0\u00a0Guerdon, good works and their reward, are stored within the\n \u00a0\u00a0Residue.\n 10Sacrifice of one night, or two, Sadya1 kri, Ukthya, and Prakri,\n \u00a0\u00a0Call, deep-toned summons are therein, fine parts, through lore,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of sacrifice,\n 11Sacrifice of four nights, of five, of six nights, day and night\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0conjoined,\n \u00a0\u00a0Shodai, seven-night sacrifice, all these sprang from the Residue,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0these which the Immortal One contains. p. 62\n 12Pratih\u0101ra and Nidhanam, the Visvajit, the Abhijit,\n \u00a0\u00a0The two S\u0101hn\u0101tir\u0101tr\u0101s and Twelve-day rite are stored therein.\n 13Pleasantness, reverence, peace, and power, strength, vigour,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0immortality\n \u00a0\u00a0All forward wishes are with love satisfied in the Residue.\n 14Nine several oceans, earths, and skies are set within, the Residue,\n \u00a0\u00a0Bright shines the Sun therein, in me, the Residue, are Day and\n \u00a0\u00a0Night.\n 15The Residue the Father's sire, who bears this universe, supports\n \u00a0\u00a0Vish\u016bv\u0101n, Upahavya, and all worship offered secretly.\n 16The Father's sire, the Residue, grandson of Spirit, primal Sire,\n \u00a0\u00a0Lord of the universe, the Bull, dwells on the earth victorious.\n 17Right, truth, dominion, fervent zeal, toil, duty, action, future,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0past,\n \u00a0\u00a0Valour; prosperity, and strength dwell in the Residue in\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0strength.\n 18Welfare, resolve and energy, the six expanses, kingship, sway,\n \u00a0\u00a0Prayer, and direction, and the year, oblation, planets, are there-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in;\n 19And the four Hotars, Apri hymns, the Nivids, and Four-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0monthly rites,\n \u00a0\u00a0Oblations, sacrifices, and animal offerings, and their forms.\n 20Months, half-months, sections of the year, seasons are in the\n \u00a0\u00a0Residue,\n \u00a0\u00a0The waters resonant afar, the thunder, and the mighty noise.\n 21Pebbles, sand, stones, and herbs, and plants, and grass are in\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the Residue,\n \u00a0\u00a0Closely embraced and laid therein are lightnings and the clouds\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and rain.\n 22Gain, acquisition, and success, fulness, complete prosperity.\n \u00a0\u00a0Great gain and wealth, are laid, concealed and treasured, in the\n \u00a0\u00a0Residue.\n 23All things that breathe the breath of life, all creatures that have\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0eyes to see,\n \u00a0\u00a0All the celestial Gods whose home is heaven sprang from the\n \u00a0\u00a0Residue.\n 24Verses, and Songs, and magic hymns, Pur\u0101na, sacrificial text.\n \u00a0\u00a0All the celestial Gods whose home is heaven sprang from the\n \u00a0\u00a0Residue. p. 63\n 25Inbreath and outbreath, eye and ear, decay and freedom from\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0decay,\n \u00a0\u00a0All the celestial Gods whose home is heaven sprang from the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Residue.\n 26All pleasures and enjoyments, all delights and rapturous ecsta-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0sies,\n \u00a0\u00a0All the celestial Gods whose home is heaven sprang from the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Residue.\n 27The Deities, the Fathers, men, Gandharvas, and Apsarases.\n \u00a0\u00a06 All the celestial Gods whose home is heaven sprang from the\n \u00a0\u00a0Residue.","title":"Atharva Veda: Book 11: Hymn 7: A glorification of the Uchchhishta or Residue of Sacrifice","type":"page"}
