Griffith, [1895]\n1These the two sturdy, manly arms of Indra, these that are won-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0drous, mighty, and successful\n \u00a0\u00a0First, when the need hath come will I employ them by which\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the heaven of Asuras was conquered.\n 2Swift, like a dread bull sharpening his weapons, rapidly striking,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0stirring up the people,\n \u00a0\u00a0Loud shouting, vigilant, the one sole Hero, Indra subdued a\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0hundred hosts together.\n 3With him loud-roaring, ever watchful, victor bold, hard to over-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0throw, whom none may vanquish,\n \u00a0\u00a0Indra the strong whose hand bears arrows, conquer, ye heroes\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0now, now vanquish in the combat.\n 4He rules with those who carry shafts and quivers, Indra who\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0with his hand brings hosts together,\n \u00a0\u00a0Foe-conquering, strong of arm, the Soma-drinker,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0with mighty bow, shooting with well-laid arrows.\n 5Conspicuous by thy strength, firm, foremost fighter, mighty and\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0fierce, victorious, all-subduing,\n \u00a0\u00a0O'ercoming might, excelling men and heroes, mount the kine-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0winning conquering car, O Indra.\n 6Troop-vanquisher, kine-winner, armed with thunder, who quells\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0an army and with might destroys it,\n \u00a0\u00a0Follow him, comrades! quit yourselves like heroes, and like this\n \u00a0\u00a0Indra show your zeal and courage.\n 7Piercing the cow-stalls with surpassing vigour, Indra the pitiless\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0hero, wild with anger, p. 224\n \u00a0\u00a0Victor in fight, unshaken and resistless,\u2014may he protect our\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0armies in our battles.\n 8Brihaspati, fly with thy chariot hither, slayer of demons, driving.\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0off our foemen.\n \u00a0\u00a0Be thou protector of our bodies, crushing our enemies, destroy-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ing those who hate us.\n 9Indra guide these!
