Griffith, [1895]\n1Prolific, thousand-eyed, and undecaying, a horse with seven\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0reins Time bears us onward.\n \u00a0\u00a0Sages inspired with holy knowledge mount him: his chariot\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0wheels are all the worlds of creatures.\n 2This Time hath seven rolling wheels and seven naves immorality\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0is the chariot's axle.\n \u00a0\u00a0This Time brings hitherward all worlds about us: as primal\n \u00a0\u00a0Deity is he entreated.\n 3On Time is laid an overflowing beaker: this we behold in many\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0a place appearing.\n \u00a0\u00a0He carries from us all these worlds of creatures. They call him\n \u00a0\u00a0K\u0101la in the loftiest heaven.\n 4He only made the worlds of life, he only gathered the worlds\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of living things together.\n \u00a0\u00a0Their son did he become who was their Father: no other higher\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0power than he existeth.\n 5K\u0101la created yonder heaven, and K\u0101la made these realms of\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0earth.\n \u00a0\u00a0By K\u0101la, stirred to motion, both what is and what shall be\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0expand.\n 6K\u0101la created land; the Sun in K\u0101la hath his light and heat.\n \u00a0\u00a0In K\u0101la rest all things that be: in K\u0101la doth the eye discern.\n 7In K\u0101la mind, in K\u0101la breath, in K\u0101la name are fixt and joined.\n \u00a0\u00a0These living creatures, one and all, rejoice when K\u0101la hath\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0approached.\n 8K\u0101la embraces Holy Fire, the Highest, Brahma in himself.\n \u00a0\u00a0Yea, K\u0101la, who was father of Praj\u0101pati, is Lord of All.\n 9He made, he stirred this universe to motion, and on him it rests.\n \u00a0\u00a0He, K\u0101la, having now become Brahma, holds Parameshthin up. p. 255\n 10K\u0101la created living things and, first of all, Praj\u0101pati.\n \u00a0\u00a0From K\u0101la self-made Kasyapa, from K\u0101la Holy Fire was born.","title":"Atharva Veda: Book 19: Hymn 53: A hymn to K\u0101ma or Time","type":"page"}
