Griffith, [1895]\n1Priests, offer to the Lord of all the people the milked-out stalk\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of Soma, radiant-coloured.\n \u00a0\u00a0No wild bull knows his drinking-place like Indra who ever seeks\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0him who hath pressed the Soma.\n 2Thou dost desire to drink, each day that passes, the pleasant\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0food which thou hast had aforetime.\n \u00a0\u00a0O Indra, gratified in heart and spirit, drink eagerly the Soma set\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0before thee.\n 3Thou, newly-born, for strength didst drink the Soma; thy\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0mother told thee of thy future greatness.\n \u00a0\u00a0O Indra, thou hast filled mid-air's wide region, and given the\n \u00a0\u00a0Gods by battle room and freedom.\n 4When thou hast urged the arrogant to combat, proud in their\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0strength of arm, we will subdue them.\n \u00a0\u00a0Or, Indra, when thou fightest girt by heroes, we in the glorious\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0fray with thee will conquer.\n 5I will declare the earliest deeds of Indra, and recent acts which\n \u00a0\u00a0Maghavan hath accomplished.\n \u00a0\u00a0When he had conquered godless wiles and magic, Soma became\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0his own entire possession.\n 6Thine is this world of flocks and herds around thee, which with\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the eye of Surya thou beholdest.\n \u00a0\u00a0Thou, Indra, art alone the Lord of cattle: may we enjoy the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0treasure which thou givest.\n 7Ye twain are Lords of wealth in earth and heaven, thou, O\n \u00a0\u00a0Brihaspati, and thou, O Indra .\n \u00a0\u00a0Mean though he be, give wealth to him who lauds you.
