To Indra is the hymn upraised.\n 7When hither speed the dappled cows, unflinching, easy to be\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0milked,\n \u00a0\u00a0Seize quickly, as it bursts away, the Soma juice for Indra's\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0drink.\n 8Indra hath drunk; Agni hath drunk all Deities have drunk their\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0fill.\n \u00a0\u00a0Here Varuna shall have his home, to whom the floods have sung\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0aloud as mother-kine unto their calves.\n 9Thou, Varuna, to whom belong the Seven Streams, art a glorious\n \u00a0\u00a0God.\n \u00a0\u00a0The waters flow into thy throat as'twere a pipe with ample\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0mouth.\n 10He who hath made the fleet steeds spring, well-harnessed, to the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0worshipper,\n \u00a0\u00a0He, the swift guide, is that fair form thot loosed the horses near\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0at hand.\n 11Indra, the very mighty, holds his enemies in utter scorn.\n \u00a0\u00a0He, far away, and yet a child, cleft the cloud smitten by his\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0voice.\n 12He, yet a boy exceeding small, mounted his newly-fashioned car.\n \u00a0\u00a0He for his Mother and his Sire cooked the wild mighty buffalo.\n 13Lord of the Home, with beauteous cheeks, ascend thy chariot\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0wrought of gold.\n \u00a0\u00a0We will attend the heavenly One; the thousand-footed, red of\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0hue, matchless, who blesses where he goes.\n 14With reverence they come hitherward to him as to a sovran lord, p. 339\n \u00a0\u00a0That they may bring him near for this man's good success, to\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0prosper and bestow his gifts.\n 15The Priyamedhas have observed the offering of the men of old,\n \u00a0\u00a0Of ancient custom, while they strewed the sacred grass and\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0spread their sacrificial food.\n 16He who as sovran Lord of men moves with his chariots\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0unrestrained,\n \u00a0\u00a0The Vritra-slayer, queller of all fighting hosts, preeminent, is\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0praised in song.\n 17Honour that Indra, Puruhanman! for his aid, in whose sustain-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ing hand of old.\n \u00a0\u00a0The splendid bolt of thunder was deposited, as the great Sun\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0was set in heaven.\n 18No one by deed attains to him who works and strengthens\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0evermore:\n \u00a0\u00a0No, not by sacrifice, to Indra praised of all, resistless, daring,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0bold in might;\n 19The potent Conqueror, invincible in war, him at whose birth\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the mighty ones,\n \u00a0\u00a0The kine who spread afar, sent their loud voices out, heavens,\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0earths sent their loud voices out.\n 20O Indra, if a hundred heavens and if a hundred earths were\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0thine\n \u00a0\u00a0No, not a thousand suns could match thee at thy birth, not\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0both the worlds, O Thunderer.\n 21Thou, Hero, hast performed thy hero deeds with might, yea, all\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0with strength, O Strongest One.\n \u00a0\u00a0Maghavan, help us to a stable full of kine, O Thunderer, with\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0wondrous aids.","title":"Atharva Veda: Book 20: Hymn 92","type":"page"}
