Griffith, [1895]\n1Drive all our enemies away, O Indra, the western, mighty Con-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0queror, and the eastern,\n \u00a0\u00a0Hero, drive off our northern foes and southern, that we in thy\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0wide shelter may be joyful.\n 2What then? As men whose fields are full of barley reap the ripe\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0corn removing it in order,\n \u00a0\u00a0So bring the food of those men, bring it hither, who come not\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0to prepare the grass for worship.\n 3Men come not with one horse at sacred seasons; thus they\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0obtain no honour in assemblies.\n \u00a0\u00a0Sages desiring herds of kine and horses strengthen the mighty\n \u00a0\u00a0Indra for his friendship.\n 4Ye, Asvins, Lords of Splendour, drank full draughts of grateful\n \u00a0\u00a0Soma juice,\n \u00a0\u00a0And aided Indra in his work with Namuchi of Asura birth.\n 5As parents aid a son, both Asvins, Indra, aided thee with their\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0wondrous powers and wisdom\n \u00a0\u00a0When thou, with might, hadst drunk the draught that glad-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0dens, Sarasvati, O Maghavan refreshed thee.\n 6Indra is strong to save, rich in assistance: may he, possessing\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0all, be kind and gracious.\n \u00a0\u00a0May he disperse our foes and give us safety, and may we be the\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0lords of hero vigour.\n 7May we enjoy his favour, his the holy: may we enjoy his blessed\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0loving-kindness.\n \u00a0\u00a0May this rich Indra, as our good protector, drive off and keep\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0afar all those who hate us.","title":"Atharva Veda: Book 20: Hymn 125","type":"page"}
