Supreme is Indra over all.\n 2Thou, Indra, heedless passest by the ill Vrish\u0101kapi hath\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0wrought;\n \u00a0\u00a0Yet nowhere else thou findest place wherein to drink the Soma\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0juice. Supreme is Indra over all.\n 3What hath he done to injure thee, this tawny beast Vrish\u0101kapi,\n \u00a0\u00a0With whom thou art so angry now? What is the votary's food-\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ful store? Supreme is Indra over all.\n 4Soon may the hound who hunts the boar seize him and bite him\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0in the ear,\n \u00a0\u00a0O Indra, that Vrish\u0101kapi whom thou protectest as a friend.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 5Kapi hath marred the beauteous things, all deftly wrought, that\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0were my joy.\n \u00a0\u00a0In pieces will I rend his head; the sinner's portion shall be woe.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 6No dame hath ampler charms than I, or greater wealth of love's\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0delights.\n \u00a0\u00a0None with more ardour offers all her beauty to her lord's\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0embrace. Supreme is Indra over all.\n 7Mother whose love is quickly won,I say what verily will be,\n \u00a0\u00a0My breast, O mother, and my head and both my hips seem\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0quivering Supreme is Indra over all.\n 8Dame with the lovely hands and arms, with broad hair-plaits\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and ample hips,\n \u00a0\u00a0Why, O thou hero's wife, art thou angry with our Vrish\u0101kapi?\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 9This noxious creature looks on me as one bereft of hero's love. p. 361\n \u00a0\u00a0Yet heroes for my sons have I, the Maruts' friend and Indra's\n \u00a0\u00a0Queen Supreme is Indra over all.\n 10From olden time the matron goes to feast and general sacrifice.\n \u00a0\u00a0Mother of heroes, Indra's Queen, the rite's ordainer is extolled.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 11So have I heard Indr\u0101ni called most fortunate among these\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0dames,\n \u00a0\u00a0For never shall her Consort die in future time through length\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of days. Supreme is Indra over all.\n 12Never, Indr\u0101ni have I joyed without my friend Vrish\u0101kapi,\n \u00a0\u00a0Whose welcome offering here, made pure with water, goeth to\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0the Gods. Supreme is Indra over all.\n 13Wealthy Vrish\u0101kap\u0101yi, blest with sons and consorts of thy sons,\n \u00a0\u00a0Indra will eat thy bulls, thy dear oblation that effecteth much.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 14Fifteen in number, then, for me a score of bullocks they\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0prepare.\n \u00a0\u00a0And I devour the fat thereof: they fill my belly full with food.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 15Like as a bull with pointed horn, loud bellowing amid the herds,\n \u00a0\u00a0Sweet to thine heart, O Indra, is the brew which she who tends\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0thee pours. Non ille fortis (ad Venerem) est cujus mentula\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0laxe inter femora dependet; fortis vero estille cujus, quum\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0sederit, membrum pilosum se extendit. Super omnia est\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Indra.\n 17Indra speaks. Non fortis est ille cujus, quum sederit, membrum\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0pilosum se extendit: fortis vero est ille cujus mentula laxe\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0inter femora dependet. Super omnia est Indra.\n 18O Indra, this Vrish\u0101kapi hath found a slain wild animal,\n \u00a0\u00a0Dresser, and new-made pan, and knife, and wagon with a load\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0of wood. Supreme is Indra over all.\n 19Distinguishing the D\u0101sa and the Arya, viewing all, I go.\n \u00a0\u00a0I look upon the wise, and drink the simple votary's Soma juice.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 20The desert plains and steep descents, how many leagues in length\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0they spread!\n \u00a0\u00a0Go to the nearest houses, go unto thine home, Vrish\u0101kapi.\n \u00a0\u00a0Supreme is Indra over all.\n 21Turn thee again Vrish\u0101kapi; we twain will bring thee happiness.\n \u00a0\u00a0Thou goest homeward on thy way along this path which leads\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0to sleep.
