N\u00e2rada said :-- O All knowing One! Thou showest Thy grace to Thy devotees! Thou hast described this sin-destroying G\u00e2yatr\u00ee Hridaya. Now describe Her Stava (hymn of praise).\n2-29. N\u00e2r\u00e2yana said :-- O World-Mother! O Thou, favouring Thy devotees! O Thou, the Prime Force, O Omnipresent! Infinite! S\u2019r\u00ee Sandhye! I bow down to Thee. Thou art the Sandhy\u00e2; Thou art the G\u00e2yatr\u00ee, S\u00e2vitr\u00ee and Sarasvat\u00ee; Thou art Br\u00e2hm\u00ee, Vaisnav\u00ee and Raudr\u00ee and Thou art red, white, and black (the colours of G\u00e2yatr\u00ee, S\u00e2vitr\u00ee and Sarasvat\u00ee) that Thou assumest respectively. O Bhagavat\u00ee! Thou art always meditated by the Munis as young in the morning, full of youth in the mid-day, and aged in the evening. I bow down to Thee. Thou art seen by the Tapasvis (ascetics) as Brahm\u00e2n\u00ee, riding on Hamsa (swan), Sarasvat\u00ee riding on Garuda, and S\u00e2vitr\u00ee riding on Bull. Thou art seen within by the ascetics as manifesting the Rigveda (in the form of S\u00e2vitr\u00ee) in this world, as manifesting Yayurveda in the middle space (antariksam) and as manifesting S\u00e2maveda everywhere in the Rudra loka, thus roaming in the three worlds. I bow down to Thee. O Dev\u00ee! Thou art Rudr\u00e2n\u00ee in the Rudra loka, Vaisnav\u00ee in the Visnu loka, and Brahm\u00e2n\u00ee in the Brahm\u00e2 loka; thus Thou shewest Thy favour to the Immortals. O Dev\u00ee! Thou art the Mother delighting the seven Risis (of the Great Bear); Thou art M\u00e2y\u00e2. Thou grantest great many boons to Thy Bhaktas. Thou art sprung from the eyes and hands, tears and perspiration of S\u2019iva and S\u2019iv\u00e2. Thou art the Mother of delights, Durg\u00e2 Dev\u00ee, recited by the following ten names :-- Vareny\u00e2, Varad\u00e2, Varisth\u00e2, Varavarnin\u00ee, Garisth\u00e2, Var\u00e2h\u00e2, Var\u00e2roh\u00e2, N\u00eelagang\u00e2, Sandhy\u00e2 and Bhoga Moksad\u00e2. Thou art the Bh\u00e2girath\u00ee (the river Ganges) in this world; the Bhogavat\u00ee in the P\u00e2t\u00e2la; and the Mand\u00e2kin\u00ee (the milky way) in the Heavens. Thou art in this world (Bhur loka) the all-enduring Prithv\u00ee (earth); Thou art the V\u00e2yu S\u2019akti (air power) in the middle space (Bhubhar Loka); Thou art the energy (the ocean of Tejas) in the Heavens (Svar loka); Thou art the Great Siddhi in the Mahar loka; Thou art Jan\u00e2 in the Janar Loka; Thou art Tapasvin\u00ee in the Tapar loka; Thou art Truth (True Speech) in the Satya lokam. Thou art Kamal\u00e2 in Visnu loka; G\u00e2yatr\u00ee in Brahm\u00e2 loka; and the other half of Hara as Gaur\u00ee in the Rudra loka. O Dev\u00ee! Thou art sung as Prakriti \u2013 \u201cAham\u201d \u201cOm-Mahat\u201d tattva and beyond that the Highest Sarva\nBrahm\u00e2 r\u00fbpin\u00ee and S\u00e2my\u00e2vasth\u00e2 Prakriti. Thou art the Par\u00e2 S\u2019akti; Thou art the Param\u00e2 S\u2019akti; O Dev\u00ee! Thou art the Tri-S\u2019akti :-- the Ichchh\u00e2 S\u2019akti (the will power), the Kriy\u00e2 S\u2019akti (power of action) and the J\u00f1\u00e2na S\u2019akti (the force of knowledge). Thou art the Gang\u00e2, Yamun\u00e2, Vip\u00e2s'\u00e2, Sarasvat\u00ee, Sarayu, Dev\u00eek\u00e2, Sindhu; Narmad\u00e2, \u00cer\u00e2vat\u00ee, God\u00e2var\u00ee, S\u2019atadru; K\u00e2ver\u00ee, Kaus'ik\u00ee, Chandra Bh\u00e2g\u00e2, Vitast\u00e2, Gandak\u00ee, Tapin\u00ee, Karatoy\u00e2, Gomat\u00ee, and Vetravat\u00ee and other rivers; Thou art the Id\u00e2, Pingal\u00e2, and Susumn\u00e2 nerves; Thou art G\u00e2ndh\u00e2r\u00ee, Hastajihv\u00e2, P\u00fbs\u00e2, Ap\u00fbs\u00e2, Alambus\u00e2, Kuh\u00fb, S\u2019ankhin\u00ee, Pr\u00e2nav\u00e2hin\u00ee and other nerves in the body; O Dev\u00ee! Thou art the vital power in the lotus of the heart; Thou art Svapna n\u00e2ik\u00e2 in the throat; Thou art Sad\u00e2dh\u00e2r\u00e2 in the palate; and Thou art the Vindum\u00e2lin\u00ee S\u2019akti in the pituitary space between the eyebrows.\nThou art the Kundalin\u00ee in the M\u00fbl\u00e2dh\u00e2ra (sacral plexus), the Vy\u00e2pin\u00ee extending upto the roots of the hairs; Thou art Madhy\u00e2san\u00e2 on the crown of the head, and Thou art Manonman\u00ee in the Brahm\u00e2randhra. O Dev\u00ee! What need there is in stating these? Suffice it to say that whatever there is seen in this universe, all art Thou; therefore, O S\u2019r\u00ee Sandhy\u00e2 Dev\u00ee! I bow down to Thee. O N\u00e2rada! Thus I have spoken to you about the G\u00e2yatr\u00ee-Stotra that gives all successes, destroys all sins, and yields all merits. He who reads this in the Sandhy\u00e2 times, with all attention, will get sons if he has no sons, will get wealth if he has no wealth. There is no doubt in this. Whoever reads this Stotra gets the fruits of all T\u00eerthas, all Tapasy\u00e2s, all gifts, all sacrifices and all Yogas. He enjoys happiness in this world and finally gets the Moksa. The Munis who are engaged in Tapasy\u00e2s read this Stotra. While bathing, if one reads this, merged under water, acquires the fruits of his being merged in the Sandhy\u00e2. O N\u00e2rada! I speak this verily, verily, verily, unto you that there is no trace of any doubt in this statement. Whoever will hear with devotion this Sandhy\u00e2 stotra, the nectar-like thing, will be freed from all sins.\nHere ends the Fifth Chapter of the Twelfth Book on the G\u00e2yatr\u00ee Stotra in the Mah\u00e2pur\u00e2nam S\u2019r\u00ee Mad Dev\u00ee Bh\u00e2gavatam of 18,000 verses by Maharsi Veda Vy\u00e2sa.","title":"The Devi Bhagavatam: The Twelfth Book: Chapter 5","type":"page"}
