{"collection":"Hinduism","html_url":"https://unchartedknowledge.5gfusion.net/browse/hin/rama/ry485.htm","path":"hin/rama/ry485.htm","source_url":"https://sacred-texts.com/hin/rama/ry485.htm","text":"Joy reigned in heaven where every eye\n Had seen the Lord of Lank\u00e1 die.\n In cars whose sheen surpassed the sun's\n Triumphant rode the radiant ones:\n And R\u00e1van's death, by every tongue.\n And R\u00e1ma's glorious deeds were sung.\n They praised the V\u00e1nars true and brave,\n The counsel wise Sugr\u00edva gave.\n The deeds of Hanum\u00e1n they told,\n The valiant chief supremely bold,\n The strong ally, the faithful friend.\n And Sit\u00e1's truth which naught could bend.\n \n \n To M\u00e1tali, whom Indra sent,\n His head the son of Raghu bent:\n And he with fiery steeds who clove\n The clouds again to Swarga drove.\n \n \n Round King Sugr\u00edva brave and true\n His arms in rapture R\u00e1ma threw,\n Looked on the host with joy and pride,\n And thus to noble Lakshman cried:\n \n \n 'Now let king-making drops be shed,\n Dear brother, on Vibh\u00edshan's head\n For truth and friendship nobly shown,\n And make him lord of R\u00e1van's throne.'\n This longing of his heart he told:\n And Lakshman took an urn of gold\n And bade the wind-fleet V\u00e1nars bring\n Sea water for the giants' king.\n The brimming urn was swiftly brought:\n Then on a throne superbly wrought\n Vibh\u00edshan sat, the giants' lord,\n And o'er his brows the drops were poured.\n As Raghu's son the rite beheld\n His loving heart with rapture swelled:\n But tenderer thoughts within him woke,\n And thus to Hanum\u00e1n he spoke:\n \n \n 'Go to my queen: this message give:\n Say Lakshman and Sugr\u00edva live.\n The death of Lank\u00e1's monarch tell,\n And bid her joy, for all is well.'","title":"BOOK VI: Canto CXIV: Vibh\u00edshan Consecrated.","type":"page"}
