Griffith, [1896]\n1 WAKEN the A\u015bvin Pair who yoke their car at early morn: may they\n Approach to drink this Soma juice.\n 2 We call the A\u015bvins Twain, the Gods borne in a noble car, the best\n Of charioteers, who reach the heavens.\n 3 Dropping with honey is your whip, A\u015bvins, and full of pleasantness\n Sprinkle therewith the sacrifice.\n 4 As ye go thither in your car, not far, O A\u015bvins, is the home\n Of him who offers Soma juice.\n 5 For my protection I invoke the golden-handed Savitar.\n He knoweth, as a God, the place.\n 6 That he may send us succour, praise the Waters\u2019 Offspring Savitar:\n Fain are we for his holy ways.\n 7 We call on him, distributer of wondrous bounty and of wealth,\n On Savitar who looks on men.\n 8 Come hither, friends, and seat yourselves Savitar, to be praised by us,\n Giving good gifts, is beautiful.\n 9 O Agni, hither bring to us the willing Spouses of the Gods,\n And Tva\u1e63\u1e6dar, to the Soma draught.\n 10 Most youthful Agni, hither bring their Spouses, Hotr\u0101, Bh\u0101rat\u012b,\n Var\u016btr\u012b, Dhi\u1e63a\u1e47\u0101, for aid.\n 11 Spouses of Heroes, Goddesses, with whole wings may they come to us\n With great protection and with aid.\n 12 Indr\u0101\u1e47\u012b, Varu\u1e47\u0101n\u012b, and Agn\u0101y\u012b hither I invite,\n For weal, to drink the Soma juice.\n 13 May Heaven and Earth, the Mighty Pair, bedew for us our sacrifice,\n And feed us full with nourishments.\n 14 Their water rich with fatness, there in the Gandharva's steadfast place,\n The singers taste through sacred songs.\n 15 Thornless be thou, O Earth, spread wide before us for a dwelling-place:\n Vouchsafe us shelter broad and sure.\n 16 The Gods be gracious unto us even from the place whence Vi\u1e63\u1e47u strode\n Through the seven regions of the earth!\n 17 Through all this world strode Vi\u1e63\u1e47u; thrice his foot he planted, and the whole\n Was gathered in his footstep's dust.\n 18 Vi\u1e63\u1e47u, the Guardian, he whom none deceiveth, made three steps; thenceforth\n Establishing his high decrees.\n 19 Look ye on Vi\u1e63\u1e47u's works, whereby the Friend of Indra, close-allied,\n Hath let his holy ways be seen.\n 20 The princes evermore behold that loftiest place where Vi\u1e63\u1e47u is,\n Laid as it were an eye in heaven.\n 21 This, Vi\u1e63\u1e47u's station most sublime, the singers, ever vigilant,\n Lovers of holy song, light up.","title":"Rig Veda: Rig-Veda Book 1: HYMN XXII.
