Bh\u00fb, Bhuvas, Suvas 4, these are the three sacred interjections (vy\u00e2hriti). M\u00e2h\u00e2kamasya taught a fourth, viz. Mahas, which is Brahman, which is the Self. The others (devat\u00e2s) are its members.\nBh\u00fb is this world, Bhuvas is the sky, Suvas is the other world.\n2. Mahas is the sun. All the worlds are increased by the sun. Bh\u00fb is Agni (fire), Bhuvas is V\u00e2yu (air), Suvas is \u00c2ditya (sun). Mahas is the moon. All the heavenly lights are increased by the moon.\nBh\u00fb is the Rik-verses, Bhuvas is the S\u00e2man-verses, Suvas is the Yagus-verses.\n3. Mahas is Brahman. All the Vedas are increased by the Brahman.\n(1-2) Bh\u00fb is Pr\u00e2na (up-breathing), Bhuvas is Ap\u00e2na, (down-breathing), Suvas is Vy\u00e2na (back-breathing). Mahas is food. All breathings are increased by food.\nThus there are these four times four, the four and four sacred interjections. He who knows these,\n(1-2) Knows the Brahman. All Devas bring offerings to him.\n48:1 The construction is not right.
