On the last (Ashtak\u00e2) he sacrifices cakes,\n2. With the words, 'The Ukthya and the Atir\u00e2tra. the Sadyahkr\u00ee together with the metre\u2014Ashtak\u00e2!\n[paragraph continues] Preparer of cakes! Adoration to thee, O glad-faced one. Sv\u00e2h\u00e2!\n3 3-6. A cow or a goat is the animal (to be sacrificed), or a mess of cooked food (should be offered).\n4. Or he may optionally offer food to a cow.\n5 5. Or he may optionally burn down brushwood in the forest and say, 'This is my Ashtak\u00e2.'\n6. But let him not neglect to do (one of these things). But let him not neglect to do (one of these things).\nHere ends the Third Adhy\u00e2ya.\n105:3-6 14, 3-6. This is one of the passages which the author has taken unchanged from a more ancient S\u00fbtra; see \u00c2sv. II, 4, 8-11; Gobhila IV, 1 (end of the chapter). The S\u00fbtras do not refer, as their position would seem to indicate, to the third, but to the second Ashtak\u00e2.\n105:5 Comp.
