With one strainer,\n3 3. One (pot of) Argha-water,\n4. One lump (of flour).\n5 5. No inviting (takes place here), nor the putting\n(of food) into the fire, nor (do) the Visve dev\u00e2s (take part in this ceremony). 'Relished?'\u2014thus are they to be asked whether they are satiated. 'May it approach (the fathers),' instead of 'imperishable.'\n6. 'Be satisfied,' when sending them away.\n7. Thus through one year, when one has died.\n8 8. And (then) omission of the fourth one.\n108:1 2, 1. Eka uddishto yasmin sr\u00e2ddhe tad ekoddishtam (N\u00e2r.). This is the kind of Sr\u00e2ddha sacrifice which is to be performed for one twice-born during the first year after his death; see Manu III, 247; Y\u00e2g\u00f1avalkya I, 250.\n108:3 This rule about the Argha water corresponds to those given with regard to the P\u00e2rvana Sr\u00e2ddha in the S\u00fbtras 3 and 4 of the preceding chapter.\n108:5 'Because the \u00e2v\u00e2hana (inviting) is forbidden here, it follows p. 109 that it must take place at the P\u00e2rvana Sr\u00e2ddha' (N\u00e2r.). According to R\u00e2makandra's Paddhati he shall say to the Br\u00e2hmanas, 'I will invite hither the fathers;' and when they give their consent, he invites them with Rig-veda X, 16, 12. Comp. Y\u00e2g\u00f1avalkya I, 232 seq., &c. Regarding the Visve dev\u00e2s comp. the note on chap. 1, 2; as to the triptaprasna (the question whether they are satiated) comp. Manu III, 251; Y\u00e2g\u00f1. I, 240. At the P\u00e2rvana Sr\u00e2ddha, after the Br\u00e2hmanas have finished their dinner and rinsed their mouths, and after the Pindas have been offered, the sacrificer says, 'May what has been given at this Sr\u00e2ddha to our father N.N., who belongs to the gotra N.N., be imperishable!' (comp. Y\u00e2g\u00f1. I, 242.) This phrase is to be altered at the Ekoddishta Sr\u00e2ddha in the way indicated in this S\u00fbtra.\n109:8 After the Ekoddishta Sr\u00e2ddha has been performed for a dead person during the first year after his death, he is to be admitted, by the Sapind\u00eekarana ceremony, among the other Manes, and receives thenceforward his Pinda together with them at the ordinary P\u00e2rvana Sr\u00e2ddha.
