Pickthall\n 89. al-Fajr: The Dawn\n 1\u00a0By the Dawn \n 2\u00a0And ten nights, \n 3\u00a0And the Even and the Odd, \n 4\u00a0And the night when it departeth, \n 5\u00a0There surely is an oath for thinking man. \n 6\u00a0Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad, \n 7\u00a0With many-columned Iram, \n 8\u00a0The like of which was not created in the lands; \n 9\u00a0And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; \n 10\u00a0And with Pharaoh, firm of might, \n 11\u00a0Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, \n 12\u00a0And multiplied iniquity therein ? \n 13\u00a0Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment. \n 14\u00a0Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful. \n 15\u00a0As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. \n 16\u00a0But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me. \n 17\u00a0Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan \n 18\u00a0And urge not on the feeding of the poor. \n 19\u00a0And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. \n 20\u00a0And love wealth with abounding love. \n 21\u00a0Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, \n 22\u00a0And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, \n 23\u00a0And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him) ? \n 24\u00a0He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! \n 25\u00a0None punisheth as He will punish on that day! \n 26\u00a0None bindeth as He then will bind. \n 27\u00a0But ah! thou soul at peace! \n 28\u00a0Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! \n 29\u00a0Enter thou among My bondmen! \n 30\u00a0Enter thou My Garden!","title":"The Meaning of the Glorious Qur'\u00e2n,: 89. al-Fajr: The Dawn","type":"page"}
