{"collection":"Islam","html_url":"https://unchartedknowledge.5gfusion.net/browse/isl/pro/lot00.htm","path":"isl/pro/lot00.htm","source_url":"https://sacred-texts.com/isl/pro/lot00.htm","text":"We've pointed out before that the story\nof Lot is connected to the story of Abraham (PUH) and also connected to\nthe stories of his sons Ishmael and Isaac for they are mentioned with\nhim in many holy phrases and tales because they all share the same call\nto God and they all lived in the same time, and the religion of all is\nthe same religion of Abraham (PUH), and he is their master and the one\nthat was a subject to many troubles, and God revealed upon him only the\nbooks that explain the religion and laws, and they followed him for\nwhatever he said, and Lot got out with him when he was banished from\nhis own lands and he was the first to believe in him, and Lot is the\nnephew and the maternal cousin for Abraham and this matter had been\ninvestigated when we talked about the conditions of Abraham. God said: \nAnd Lot believed him, and said: Lo! I am a fugitive\nunto my Lord(Al-`Ankabut:26). Lot was mentioned in quran in fourteen\nchapters: Al-An`\u00e2m, Al-A`r\u00e2f, Hud, Al-Hijr,\nAl-Anbiy\u00e2', Al-Haj, Al-Shu`ar\u00e2', Al-Naml, Al-`Ankabut,\nAl-S\u00e2ff\u00e2t, S\u00e2d, Q\u00e2f, Al-Qamar, Al-Tahreem. We\nmentioned before that when quran comes to mention about any prophet's\nconditions, it either mention their conditions in details or in brief.\nThey mentioned that Lot owned many riches and cattles of camels,\nhorses, sheeps and cows and other animals, along with servants and gold\nand silver, like his uncle Abraham, and only God knows, and after they\nhad travelled out of Iraq to the lands of Shem and Palestine, Lot (PUH)\nmost probably settled in Jordan, and the village he settled in was\ncalled Sadoom (Sodom) and beside it the village of `\u00c2moor\u00e2'\n(Gomorrah). This is what Al-Mas`udi said in Muruj Al-\u00d0ahab: And God\nsent Lot to Sodom and its five villages are: Sabghah, `Amrah,\nEdm\u00e2', Sabugh and B\u00e2li` [maybe the Hebrew names are:\nGomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim, Bela and Zoar], and the people of Lot are\nAl-Mu'tafika, and this name is derived from \"Ifk\" which means \"lying\"\nand this is the opinion of whoever followed derivation method, and God\nsaid: And Al-Mu'tafikah He\ndestroyed(Al-Najm:53), and this land is located in the lands of Shem\nafter Jordan and Palestine, and torturing stones there can be seen by\ntravellers, and Lot lived there for something more than twenty years\nand used to call the people for God but they did not believe in him so\nthen they were taken away by God's punishment according what God\nmentioned about them (in quran), then God punished the people of Lot at\nthe time of Abraham (PUH) for their deeds and doings.\nThe people of Lot were people of evil and took off the cover of\nshyness, and they were never shy to do the bad things that even animals\ndeny to do as well as the human souls, and they were never shy of each\nother to do the most awful things, so all would gather, the old and the\nyoung, the father and the son, the master and the slave, they all\ngather together to commit sodomy with a strange man even in front of\ntheir women and daughters, and they used to fart in their gatherings\nand clubs as it is interpreted by God's saying: and\ncommit ye not abomination in your meetings(Al-`Ankabut:29).\nNext: Some Funny Stories","title":"The Prophets, Their Lives and Their Stories: Lot: The Prophet Lot (PUH)","type":"page"}
