God said: Though ye\nhew out dwellings in the mountain, being skilful?(Al-Sho`ar\u00e2':149),\nand from Ibn-`Abb\u00e2s as reported in interpreting the meanings of this\nholy phrase: they used to build castles in every position and hew houses\nin the mountains to be their dwellings places in winter so it is better\nand warmer, and \u00deemud was in W\u00e2di Al-Qur\u00e2 [= Valley of\nVillages] between Medina and Sh\u00e2m, and A'ad was in Yemen, and the\nages of \u00deemud's people used to range between one thousand years and\nthree hundred years. And in His saying: Ye choose castles in the plains(Al-A`r\u00e2f:74),\nmeaning that they used to build the castles in the plains, and it is said\nthat they used to make it there to take a rest in them. Abdul-Wah\u00e2b\nAl-Najj\u00e2r [another person that has also a book about prophets] said\nin his stories: Their homes were in Al-Hijr and it is between Hij\u00e2z\nand Sh\u00e2m in W\u00e2di Al-Qur\u00e2 and they are apparent still\ntil this very day, and some of my friends visited it and got into the king's\nhome and it was a house with some rooms and has a large hall and carved\ninto stone, and the place of their dwellings is known today as Faj Al-N\u00e2qah\n[= The Hole of The She-Camel].\nAl-Mas'udi said: Their remains are still obvious in the way as you\ncome back from Sh\u00e2m, and Al-Hijr of \u00deemud is in the southern-east\npart of the land of Midian and it is near the bay of Aqabah. And in the\nspeech of S\u00e2lih (PUH) as been told by the Holy Book: And remember\nhow He made you viceroys after A'ad and gave you station in the earth.\nYe choose castles in the plains and hew the mountains into dwellings(Al-A`r\u00e2f:74)\nand this is a point to denote the origin of \u00deemud and their time\nand that they are the remains of A'ad, and this is as said by some historians.\nThe people of Hadramawt claim that the lands of \u00deemud were part of\nA'ad colonies, so Abdul-Wah\u00e2b Al-Najj\u00e2r said: This is closer\nto the logic and doesn't conflict with what was said before, and also he\nreported some speeches and tidings in this section from european orientalists\nand also copied from the book of Jorji Zed\u00e2n (Al-`Arab Qabl Al-Isl\u00e2m)\n[=Arabs before Islam] and also from so many others discussing \u00deemud\nand the origin of \u00deemud and their time, and he mentioned his point\nof view about all of that in a long speech that we don't need to mention\nhere after stating the holy phrase that discusses their situation and after\nwhat was traced from the Prophet and his Household (PUT), and we've explained\nas much as possible for those who has an attentive ears and an awakened\nheart.\nThen in the speech about the prophets and messengers and their situations\nwith their people, Quran ordered them one by one by names and moves from\none before to the one after, and it is a clue for their time and place\norder, as understood by logic, look into the chapters of Al-A`r\u00e2f,\nHud, Al-Anbiy\u00e2', Al-Mu'minun, Al-Sho`ar\u00e2', Al-Qasas, Fossilat,\nand the others, you will see them mostly moving from one known story to\nanother one the same as in the story of Noah to the story of Hud, and the\nstory of S\u00e2lih to the story of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (PUT). It\nis for sure that their prophecy is proved according to the time order that\nQuran provided as to mention Jacob after Isaac and he is after Abraham,\nand also Solomon after David, and Jesus after Moses, and it is after Abraham\nand after Noah and after Adam, and their end is the prophet Muhammad and\nhis Household (PUT). [here comes some lines that I couldn't translate easily.\nThey bear much philosophical terms I guess plus they add nothing to the\nsubject].\nSome scholars mentioned about this matter that deserves to be mentioned\nhere which is comparing `Ali ben Abi T\u00e2lib, the prince of believers\n(PUH), with the She-Camel of S\u00e2lih, because there are some speeches\n(Hadiths) that had been proved and traced back to the prophet (PUH), and\nalso it is mentioned a comparison between Al-Zahr\u00e2' [meaning F\u00e2tima,\nthe daughter of the prophet] with her (the she-camel) for some reasons.\nAs traced back from the prophet (PUH) that he said to `Ali (PUH): The most\nunblessed in this life is the one who killed the she-camel of S\u00e2lih\nand the one who will strike you on the head O `Ali until the blood of your\nhead dye your beard. For many times it is reported from him (PUH) [meaning\n`Ali ben Abi T\u00e2lib] that he compared his killer with the killer of\nthe she-camel of S\u00e2lih, and it is mentioned that some historians\nwrote papers and explained in length the possible reasons for such comparison.\nSome scholars said: whoever meditates through it will see the similarities,\nand that is `Ali (PUH) was a miracle shown by God through the prophet Muhammad\n(PUH) and he said (`Ali PUH): And what miracle is greater than me?. Al-F\u00e2dhil\nAl-Mo`tazali Ibn Abi Al-Hadeed [person's name] in his interpretations:\nThe history of this life is known and checked for the time after the flood\nuntil this very day, and never reached us in this period of time any tidings\nabout any man from Arabs, Persians, Turks, Indians, Romans or any others,\nthat has such bravery or even being close to him (`Ali PUH) in any character\nof completeness.\nThe owner of the book called \"Al-`Adasiy\u00e2t\" [?] mentioned that:\nGabriel (PUH) said to the prophet (PUH): God sent `Ali with the prophets\nin secret, and sent him with you in public. His birth (`Ali PUH) was in\nthe Holy Kaaba, which is the rock of God's shrine, as the she-camel got\nout from a rock and this had never happened for any prophet or a viceroy\nof a prophet, and he (PUH) used to give the wisdom and knowledge for people\nas the she-camel used to give the people, and the reason for his killing\nis the same as this for killing the she-camel if anyone did meditate in\nboth cases, and it is a long story, and after his killing they killed his\nson, Al-Husain (PUH), as they (people of S\u00e2lih) killed the weanling\nof the she-camel, and so on with such similarities, and this is all what\nwe could mention in explaining the situation of S\u00e2lih (PUH) with\nhis people, and may God help us.","title":"The Prophets, Their Lives and Their Stories: S\u00e2lih: The Land of S\u00e2lih's (PUH) People","type":"page"}
