Wa-ith qala rabbuka lilmala-ikati innee jaAAilun fee al-ardi khaleefatan qaloo atajAAalu feeha man yufsidu feeha wayasfiku alddimaa wanahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wanuqaddisu laka qala innee aAAlamu ma la taAAlamoona\n30. Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: \"I will create\n A vicegerent on earth.\" They said:\n \"Wilt Thou place therein one who will make\n Mischief therein and shed blood?\u2014\n Whilst we do celebrate Thy praises\n And glorify Thy holy (name)?\"\n He said: \"I know what ye know not.\"\n31. WaAAallama adama al-asmaa kullaha thumma AAaradahum AAala almala-ikati faqala anbi-oonee bi-asma-i haola-i in kuntum sadiqeena\n31. And He taught Adam the nature\n Of all things; then He placed them\n Before the angels, and said: \"Tell Me\n The nature of these if ye are right.\"\n32. Qaloo subhanaka la AAilma lana illa ma AAallamtana innaka anta alAAaleemu alhakeemu\n32. They said: \"Glory to Thee: of knowledge\nWe have none, save what Thou\n Hast taught us: in truth it is Thou\n Who art perfect in knowledge and wisdom.\"\n33. Qala ya adamu anbi/hum bi-asma-ihim falamma anbaahum bi-asma-ihim qala alam aqul lakum innee aAAlamu ghayba alssamawati waal-ardi waaAAlamu ma tubdoona wama kuntum taktumoona\n33. He said: \"O Adam! tell them\n Their natures.\" When he had told them,\n God said: \"Did I not tell you\n That I know the secrets of heaven\n And earth, and I know what ye reveal\n And what ye conceal?\"\n34. Wa-ith qulna lilmala-ikati osjudoo li-adama fasajadoo illa ibleesa aba waistakbara wakana mina alkafireena\n34. And behold, We said to the angels:\n \"Bow down to Adam: \"and they bowed down:\n Not so Ibl\u012bs: he refused and was haughty:\n He was of those who reject Faith.\n35. Waqulna ya adamu oskun anta wazawjuka aljannata wakula minha raghadan haythu shi/tuma wala taqraba hathihi alshshajarata fatakoona mina alththalimeena\n35. We said: \"O Adam! dwell thou\n And thy wife in the Garden;\n And eat of the bountiful things therein\n As (where and when) ye will; but approach not this tree,\n Or ye run into harm and transgression.\"\n36. Faazallahuma alshshaytanu AAanha faakhrajahuma mimma kana feehi waqulna ihbitoo baAAdukum libaAAdin AAaduwwun walakum fee al-ardi mustaqarrun wamataAAun ila heenin\n36. Then did Satan make them slip\n From the (Garden), and get them out\nOf the state (of felicity) in which\n They had been. We said:\n \"Get ye down, all (ye people),\n With enmity between yourselves.\n On earth will be your dwelling-place\n And your means of livelihood\u2014\n For a time.\"\n37. Fatalaqqa adamu min rabbihi kalimatin fataba AAalayhi innahu huwa alttawwabu alrraheemu\n37. Then learnt Adam from his Lord\n Words of inspiration, and his Lord\n Turned towards him; for He\n Is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.\n38. Qulna ihbitoo minha jameeAAan fa-imma ya/tiyannakum minnee hudan faman tabiAAa hudaya fala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona\n38. We said: \"Get ye down all from here;\n And if, as is sure, there comes to you\n Guidance from Me, whosoever\n Follows My guidance, on them\n Shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.\n39. Waallatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo bi-ayatina ola-ika as-habu alnnari hum feeha khalidoona\n39. \"But those who reject Faith\n And belie Our Signs,\n They shall be Companions of the Fire;\n They shall abide therein.\"","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra II.: Baqara, or the Heifer.: Section 4 (30-39)","type":"page"}
