Hurrimat AAalaykum ommahatukum wabanatukum waakhawatukum waAAammatukum wakhalatukum wabanatu al-akhi wabanatu al-okhti waommahatukumu allatee ardaAAnakum waakhawatukum mina alrradaAAati waommahatu nisa-ikum waraba-ibukumu allatee fee hujoorikum min nisa-ikumu allatee dakhaltum bihinna fa-in lam takoonoo dakhaltum bihinna fala junaha AAalaykum wahala-ilu abna-ikumu allatheena min aslabikum waan tajmaAAoo bayna al-okhtayni illa ma qad salafa inna Allaha kana ghafooran raheeman\n23. Prohibited to you\n (For marriage) are:\u2014\n Your mothers, daughters,\n Sisters; father's sisters,\n Mother's sisters; brother's daughters,\n Sister's daugters; foster-mothers\n (Who gave you suck), foster-sisters;\n Your wives\u2019 mothers;\n Your step-daughters under your\n Guardianship, born of your wives\n To whom ye have gone in,\n No prohibition if ye have not gone in;\u2014\n (Those who have been)\n Wives of your sons proceeding\n From your loins;\n And two sisters in wedlock\n At one and the same time,\n Except for what is past;\n For God is Oft-forgiving,\n Most Merciful;\u2014\n24. Waalmuhsanatu mina alnnisa-i illa ma malakat aymanukum kitaba Allahi AAalaykum waohilla lakum ma waraa thalikum an tabtaghoo bi-amwalikum muhsineena ghayra musafiheena fama istamtaAAtum bihi minhunna faatoohunna ojoorahunna fareedatan wala junaha AAalaykum feema taradaytum bihi min baAAdi alfareedati inna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeeman\n24. Also (prohibited are)\n Women already married,\n Except those\n Whom your right hands possess:\n Thus hath God ordained\n (Prohibitions) against you:\n Except for these, all others\n Are lawful, provided\n Ye seek (them in marriage)\n With gifts from your property,\u2014\n Desiring chastity, not lust.\n Seeing that ye derive\n Benefit from them, give them\n Their dowers (at least)\n As prescribed; but if,\n After a dower is prescribed, ye agree\n Mutually (to vary it),\n There is no blame on you,\n And God is All-knowing\n All-wise.\n25. Waman lam yastatiAA minkum tawlan an yankiha almuhsanati almu/minati famin ma malakat aymanukum min fatayatikumu almu/minati waAllahu aAAlamu bi-eemanikum baAAdukum min baAAdin fainkihoohunna bi-ithni ahlihinna waatoohunna ojoorahunna bialmaAAroofi muhsanatin ghayra masafihatin wala muttakhithati akhdanin fa-itha ohsinna fa-in atayna bifahishatin faAAalayhinna nisfu ma AAala almuhsanati mina alAAathabi thalika liman khashiya alAAanata minkum waan tasbiroo khayrun lakum waAllahu ghafoorun raheemun\n25. If any of you have not\n The means wherewith\n To wed free believing women,\n They may wed believing\n Girls from among those\n Whom your right hands possess:\n God hath full knowledge\n About your Faith.\n Ye are one from another:\n Wed them with the leave\n Of their owners, and give them\n Their dowers, according to what\nIs reasonable: they should be\n Chaste, not lustful, nor taking\n Paramours: when they\n Are taken in wedlock,\n If they fall into shame,\n Their punishment is half\n That for free women.\n This (permission) is for those\n Among you who fear sin;\n But it is better for you\n That ye practise self-restraint.\n And God is Oft-forgiving,\n Most Merciful.","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra IV.: Nis\u0101a, or The Women.: Section 4 (23-25)","type":"page"}
