LuAAina allatheena kafaroo min banee isra-eela AAala lisani dawooda waAAeesa ibni maryama thalika bima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoona\n78. 81 Curses were pronounced\n On those among the Children\n Of Israel who rejected Faith,\n By the tongue of David\n And of Jesus the son of Mary:\n Because they disobeyed\n And persisted in Excesses.\n79. Kanoo la yatanahawna AAan munkarin faAAaloohu labi/sa ma kanoo yafAAaloona\n79. 82 Nor did they (usually)\n Forbid one another\n The iniquities which they\n Committed: evil indeed\n Were the deeds which they did.\n80. Tara katheeran minhum yatawallawna allatheena kafaroo labi/sa ma qaddamat lahum anfusuhum an sakhita Allahu AAalayhim wafee alAAathabi hum khalidoona\n80. 83 Thou seest many of them\n Turning in friendship\n To the Unbelievers.\n Evil indeed are (the works) which\n Their souls have sent forward\n Before them (with the result),\n That God's wrath\n Is on them,\n And in torment\n Will they abide.\n81. Walaw kanoo yu/minoona biAllahi waalnnabiyyi wama onzila ilayhi ma ittakhathoohum awliyaa walakinna katheeran minhum fasiqoona\n81. 84 If only they had believed\n In God, in the Apostle,\n And in what hath been\n Revealed to him, never\n Would they have taken\n Them for friends and protectors,\n But most of them are\n Rebellious wrong-doers.\n82. Latajidanna ashadda alnnasi AAadawatan lillatheena amanoo alyahooda waallatheena ashrakoo walatajidanna aqrabahum mawaddatan lillatheena amanoo allatheena qaloo inna nasara thalika bi-anna minhum qisseeseena waruhbanan waannahum la yastakbiroona\n82. 85 Strongest among men in enmity\n To the Believers wilt thou\n Find the Jews and Pagans;\n And nearest among them in love\n To the Believers wilt thou\n Find those who say,\n \"We are Christians\":\n Because amongst these are\n Men devoted to learning\n And men who have renounced\n The world, and they\n Are not arrogant.\n83. Wa-itha samiAAoo ma onzila ila alrrasooli tara aAAyunahum tafeedu mina alddamAAi mimma AAarafoo mina alhaqqi yaqooloona rabbana amanna faoktubna maAAa alshshahideena\n83. 86 And when they listen\n To the revelation received\n By the Apostle, thou wilt\n See their eyes overflowing\n With tears, for they\n Recognise the truth:\n They pray: \"Our Lord!\n We believe; write us\n Down among the witnesses.\n84. Wama lana la nu/minu biAllahi wama jaana mina alhaqqi wanatmaAAu an yudkhilana rabbuna maAAa alqawmi alssaliheena\n84. 87 \"What cause can we have\n Not to believe in God\n And the truth which has\n Come to us, seeing that\n We long for our Lord\n To admit us to the company\n Of the righteous?\"\n85. Faathabahumu Allahu bima qaloo jannatin tajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideena feeha wathalika jazao almuhsineena\n85. 88 And for this their prayer\n Hath God rewarded them\n With Gardens, with rivers\n Flowing underneath,\u2014their eternal\n Home. Such is the recompense\n Of those who do good.\n86.
