Kayfa yakoonu lilmushrikeena AAahdun AAinda Allahi waAAinda rasoolihi illa allatheena AAahadtum AAinda almasjidi alharami fama istaqamoo lakum faistaqeemoo lahum inna Allaha yuhibbu almuttaqeena\n7. How can there be a league,\n Before God and His Apostle,\n With the Pagans, except those\n With whom ye made a treaty\n Near the Sacred Mosque?\n As long as these stand true\n To you, stand ye true to them:\n For God doth love the righteous.\n8. Kayfa wa-in yathharoo AAalaykum la yarquboo feekum illan wala thimmatan yurdoonakum bi-afwahihim wata/ba quloobuhum waaktharuhum fasiqoona\n8. How (can there be such a league),\n Seeing that if they get an advantage\n Over you, they respect not\n In you the ties either of kinship\nOr of covenant? With (fair words\n From) their mouths they entice you,\n But their hearts are averse\n From you; and most of them\n Are rebellious and wicked.\n9. Ishtaraw bi-ayati Allahi thamanan qaleelan fasaddoo AAan sabeelihi innahum saa ma kanoo yaAAmaloona\n9. The Signs of God have they sold\n For a miserable price,\n And (many) have they hindered\n From His Way: evil indeed\n Are the deeds they have done.\n10. La yarquboona fee mu/minin illan wala thimmatan waola-ika humu almuAAtadoona\n10. In a Believer they respect not\n The ties either of kinship\n Or of covenant! It is they\n Who have transgressed all bounds.\n11. Fa-in taboo waaqamoo alssalata waatawoo alzzakata fa-ikhwanukum fee alddeeni wanufassilu al-ayati liqawmin yaAAlamoona\n11. But (even so), if they repent,\n Establish regular prayers,\n And practise regular charity,\u2014\n They are your brethren in Faith:\n (Thus) do We explain the Signs\n in detail, for those who understand.\n12. Wa-in nakathoo aymanahum min baAAdi AAahdihim wataAAanoo fee deenikum faqatiloo a-immata alkufri innahum la aymana lahum laAAallahum yantahoona\n12. But if they violate their oaths\n After their covenant,\n And taunt you for your Faith,\u2014\n Fight ye the chiefs of Unfaith:\n For their oaths are nothing to them:\n That thus they may be restrained.\n13. Ala tuqatiloona qawman nakathoo aymanahum wahammoo bi-ikhraji alrrasooli wahum badaookum awwala marratin atakhshawnahum faAllahu ahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mu/mineena\n13. Will ye not fight people\n Who violated their oaths,\nPlotted to expel the Apostle,\n And took the aggressive\n By being the first (to assault) you?\n Do ye fear them? Nay,\n It is God Whom ye should\n More justly fear, if ye believe!\n14. Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahu bi-aydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudoora qawmin mu/mineena\n14. Fight them, and God will\n Punish them by your hands,\n Cover them with shame,\n Help you (to victory) over them,\n Heal the breasts of Believers,\n15. Wayuthhib ghaytha quloobihim wayatoobu Allahu AAala man yashao waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun\n15. And still the indignation of their hearts!\n For God will turn (in mercy)\n To whom He will; and God\n Is All-Knowing, All-Wise.\n16. Am hasibtum an tutrakoo walamma yaAAlami Allahu allatheena jahadoo minkum walam yattakhithoo min dooni Allahi wala rasoolihi wala almu/mineena waleejatan waAllahu khabeerun bima taAAmaloona\n16.
