AAafa Allahu AAanka lima athinta lahum hatta yatabayyana laka allatheena sadaqoo wataAAlama alkathibeena\n43. God give thee grace! Why\n Didst thou grant them exemption\n Until those who told the truth\n Were seen by thee in a clear light,\n And thou hadst proved the liars?\n44. La yasta/thinuka allatheena yu/minoona biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiri an yujahidoo bi-amwalihim waanfusihim waAllahu AAaleemun bialmuttaqeena\n44. Those who believe in God\n And the Last Day ask thee\n For no exemption from fighting\n With their goods and persons.\n And God knoweth well\n Those who do their duty.\n45. Innama yasta/thinuka allatheena la yu/minoona biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiri wairtabat quloobuhum fahum fee raybihim yataraddadoona\n45. Only those ask thee for exemption\n Who believe not in God\n And the Last Day, and\n Whose hearts are in doubt,\n So that they are tossed\n In their doubts to and fro.\n46. Walaw aradoo alkhurooja laaAAaddoo lahu AAuddatan walakin kariha Allahu inbiAAathahum fathabbatahum waqeela oqAAudoo maAAa alqaAAideena\n46. If they had intended\n To come out, they would\n Certainly have made\n Some preparation therefor;\n But God was averse\n To their being sent forth;\n So He made them lag behind,\n And they were told,\n \"Sit ye among those\n Who sit (inactive).\"\n47. Law kharajoo feekum ma zadookum illa khabalan walaawdaAAoo khilalakum yabghoonakumu alfitnata wafeekum sammaAAoona lahum waAllahu AAaleemun bialththalimeena\n47. If they had come out\n With you, they would not\nHave added to your (strength)\n But only (made for) disorder,\n Hurrying to and fro in your midst\n And sowing sedition among you,\n And there would have been\n Some among you\n Who would have listened to them.\n But God knoweth well\n Those who do wrong.\n48. Laqadi ibtaghawoo alfitnata min qablu waqallaboo laka al-omoora hatta jaa alhaqqu wathahara amru Allahi wahum karihoona\n48. Indeed they had plotted\n Sedition before, and upset\n Matters for thee,\u2014until\n The Truth arrived, and the Decree\n Of God became manifest,\n Much to their disgust.\n49. Waminhum man yaqoolu i/than lee wala taftinnee ala fee alfitnati saqatoo wa-inna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena\n49. Among them is (many) a man\n Who says: \"Grant me exemption\n And draw me not.\n Into trial.\" Have they not\n Fallen into trial already?\n And indeed Hell surrounds\n The Unbelievers (on all sides).\n50. In tusibka hasanatun tasu/hum wa-in tusibka museebatun yaqooloo qad akhathna amrana min qablu wayatawallaw wahum farihoona\n50. If good befalls thee,\n It grieves them; but if\n A misfortune befalls thee,\n They say, \"We took indeed\n Our precautions beforehand,\"\n And they turn away rejoicing.\n51. Qul lan yuseebana illa ma kataba Allahu lana huwa mawlana waAAala Allahi falyatawakkali almu/minoona\n51. Say: \"Nothing will happen to us\n Except what God has decreed\n For us: He is our Protector\":\n And on God let the Believers\n Put their trust.\n52. Qul hal tarabbasoona bina illa ihda alhusnayayni wanahnu natarabbasu bikum an yuseebakumu Allahu biAAathabin min AAindihi aw bi-aydeena fatarabbasoo inna maAAakum mutarabbisoona\n52. Say: \"Can you expect for us\n (Any fate) other than one\n Of two glorious things\u2014\n (Martyrdom or victory)?\n But we can expect for you\n Either that God will send\n His punishment from Himself,\n Or by our hands. So wait\n (Expectant); we too\n Will wait with you.\"\n53. Qul anfiqoo tawAAan aw karhan lan yutaqabbala minkum innakum kuntum qawman fasiqeena\n53. Say: \"Spend (for the Cause)\n Willingly or unwillingly:\n Not from you will it be\n Accepted: for ye are indeed\n A people rebellious and wicked.\"\n54. Wama manaAAahum an tuqbala minhum nafaqatuhum illa annahum kafaroo biAllahi wabirasoolihi wala ya/toona alssalata illa wahum kusala wala yunfiqoona illa wahum karihoona\n54. The only reasons why\n Their contributions are not\n Accepted are: that they reject\n God and His Apostle;\n That they come to prayer\n Without earnestness; and that\n They offer contributions unwillingly.\n55. Fala tuAAjibka amwaluhum wala awladuhum innama yureedu Allahu liyuAAaththibahum biha fee alhayati alddunya watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kafiroona\n55. Let not their wealth rats\n Nor their (following in) sons\nDazzle thee: in reality\n God's Plan is to punish them\n With these things in this life,\n And that their souls may perish\n In their (very) denial of God.\n56. Wayahlifoona biAllahi innahum laminkum wama hum minkum walakinnahum qawmun yafraqoona\n56. They swear by God\n That they are indeed\n Of you; but they are not\n Of you: yet they are afraid\n (To appear in their true colours).\n57. Law yajidoona maljaan aw magharatin aw muddakhalan lawallaw ilayhi wahum yajmahoona\n57. If they could find\n A place to flee to,\n Or caves, or a place\n Of concealment, they would\n Turn straightway thereto,\n With an obstinate rush.\n58. Waminhum man yalmizuka fee alssadaqati fa-in oAAtoo minha radoo wa-in lam yuAAtaw minha itha hum yaskhatoona\n58. And among them are men\n Who slander thee in the matter\n Of (the distribution of) the alms:\n If they are given part thereof,\n They are pleased, but if not,\n Behold! they are indignant!\n59. Walaw annahum radoo ma atahumu Allahu warasooluhu waqaloo hasbuna Allahu sayu/teena Allahu min fadlihi warasooluhu inna ila Allahi raghiboona\n59. If only they had been content\n With what God and His Apostle\n Gave them, and had said,\n \"Sufficient unto us is God!\n God and His Apostle will soon\n Give us of His bounty:\n To God do we turn our hopes!\"\n (That would have been the right course).","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra IX.: Tauba (Repentance) or Bar\u0101at (Immunity).: Section 7 (43-59)","type":"page"}
