Fama amana limoosa illa thurriyyatun min qawmihi AAala khawfin min firAAawna wamala-ihim an yaftinahum wa-inna firAAawna laAAalin fee al-ardi wa-innahu lamina almusrifeena\n83. But none believed in Moses\n Except some children of his People,\n Because of the fear of Pharaoh\n And his chiefs, lest they\n Should persecute them; and certainly\n Pharaoh was mighty on the earth\n And one who transgressed all bounds.\n84. Waqala moosa ya qawmi in kuntum amantum biAllahi faAAalayhi tawakkaloo in kuntum muslimeena\n84. Moses said: \"O my People!\n If ye do (really) believe\n In God, then in Him\n Put your trust if ye\n Submit (your will to His).\"\n85. Faqaloo AAala Allahi tawakkalna rabbana la tajAAalna fitnatan lilqawmi alththalimeena\n85. They said: \"In God\n Do we put our trust.\nOur Lord! make us not\n A trial for those\n Who practise oppression;\n86. Wanajjina birahmatika mina alqawmi alkafireena\n86. \"And deliver us by Thy Mercy\n From those who reject (Thee).\"\n87. Waawhayna ila moosa waakheehi an tabawwaa liqawmikuma bimisra buyootan waijAAaloo buyootakum qiblatan waaqeemoo alssalata wabashshiri almu/mineena\n87. We inspired Moses and his brother\n With this Message: \"Provide\n Dwellings for your People\n In Egypt, make your dwellings\n Into places of worship,\n And establish regular prayers:\n And give Glad Tidings\n To those who believe!\"\n88. Waqala moosa rabbana innaka atayta firAAawna wamalaahu zeenatan waamwalan fee alhayati alddunya rabbana liyudilloo AAan sabeelika rabbana itmis AAala amwalihim waoshdud AAala quloobihim fala yu/minoo hatta yarawoo alAAathaba al-aleema\n88. Moses prayed: \"Our Lord!\n Thou hast indeed bestowed\n On Pharaoh and his Chiefs\n Splendour and wealth in the life\n Of the Present, and so,\n Our Lord, they mislead (men)\n From Thy Path. Deface.\n Our Lord, the features of their wealth,\n And send hardness to their hearts,\n So they will not believe\nUntil they see\n The grievous Penalty.\"\n89. Qala qad ojeebat daAAwatukuma faistaqeema wala tattabiAAanni sabeela allatheena la yaAAlamoona\n89. God said: \"Accepted is\n Your prayer (O Moses and Aaron)\n So stand ye straight,\n And follow not the path\n Of those who know not.\n90. Wajawazna bibanee isra-eela albahra faatbaAAahum firAAawnu wajunooduhu baghyan waAAadwan hatta itha adrakahu algharaqu qala amantu annahu la ilaha illa allathee amanat bihi banoo isra-eela waana mina almuslimeena\n90. We took the Children\n Of Israel across the sea:\n Pharaoh and his hosts followed them\n In insolence and spite.\n At length, when overwhelmed\n With the flood, he said:\n \"I believe that there is no god\n Except Him Whom the Children\n Of Israel believe in:\n I am of those who submit\n (To God in Isl\u0101m).\"\n91. Al-ana waqad AAasayta qablu wakunta mina almufsideena\n91. (It was said to him:)\n \"Ah now!\u2014But a little while\n Before, wast thou in rebellion!\u2014\n And thou didst mischief (and violence)!\n92. Faalyawma nunajjeeka bibadanika litakoona liman khalfaka ayatan wa-inna katheeran mina alnnasi AAan ayatina laghafiloona\n92. \"This day shall We save thee\n In thy body, that thou\n Mayest be a Sign to those\n Who come after thee!\n But verily, many among mankind\n Are heedless of Our Signs!\"","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra X.: Y\u016bnus, or Jonah.: Section 9 (83-92)","type":"page"}
