Wajaa ikhwatu yoosufa fadakhaloo AAalayhi faAAarafahum wahum lahu munkiroona\n58. Then came Joseph's brethren:\n They entered his presence,\n And he knew them,\n But they knew him not.\n59. Walamma jahhazahum bijahazihim qala i/toonee bi-akhin lakum min abeekum ala tarawna annee oofee alkayla waana khayru almunzileena\n59. And when he had furnished\n Them forth with provisions\n (Suitable) for them, he said:\n \"Bring unto me a brother\n Ye have, of the same father\n As yourselves, (but a different mother):\n See ye not that I pay out\n Full measure, and that I\n Do provide the best hospitality?\n60. Fa-in lam ta/toonee bihi fala kayla lakum AAindee wala taqrabooni\n60. \"Now if ye bring him not\n To me, ye shall have\n No measure (of corn) from me,\n Nor shall ye (even) come\n Near me.\"\n61. Qaloo sanurawidu AAanhu abahu wa-inna lafaAAiloona\n61. They said: \"We shall\n Certainly seek to get\n Our wish about him\n From his father:\n Indeed we shall do it.\"\n62. Waqala lifityanihi ijAAaloo bidaAAatahum fee rihalihim laAAallahum yaAArifoonaha itha inqalaboo ila ahlihim laAAallahum yarjiAAoona\n62. And (Joseph) told his servants\n To put their stock-in-trade\n (With which they had bartered)\n Into their saddle-bags,\n So they should know it only\n When they returned to their people,\nIn order that they\n Might come back.\n63. Falamma rajaAAoo ila abeehim qaloo ya abana muniAAa minna alkaylu faarsil maAAana akhana naktal wa-inna lahu lahafithoona\n63. Now when they returned\n To their father, they said:\n \"O our father! No more\n Measure of grain shall we get\n (Unless we take our brother):\n So send our brother with us,\n That we may get our measure;\n And we will indeed\n Take every care of him.\"\n64. Qala hal amanukum AAalayhi illa kama amintukum AAala akheehi min qablu faAllahu khayrun hafithan wahuwa arhamu alrrahimeena\n64. He said: \"Shall I trust you\n With him with any result\n Other than when I trusted you\n With his brother aforetime?\n But God is the best\n To take care (of him),\n And He is the Most Merciful\n Of those who show mercy!\"\n65. Walamma fatahoo mataAAahum wajadoo bidaAAatahum ruddat ilayhim qaloo ya abana ma nabghee hathihi bidaAAatuna ruddat ilayna wanameeru ahlana wanahfathu akhana wanazdadu kayla baAAeerin thalika kaylun yaseerun\n65. Then when they opened\n Their baggage, they found\n Their stock-in-trade had been\n Returned to them. They said:\n \"O our father! What (more)\n Can we desire? This our\n Stock-in-trade has been returned\n To us: so we shall get\n(More) food for our family;\n We shall take care of our brother;\n And add (at the same time)\n A full camel's load (of grain\n To our provisions).\n This is but a small quantity.\n66. Qala lan orsilahu maAAakum hatta tu/tooni mawthiqan mina Allahi lata/tunnanee bihi illa an yuhata bikum falamma atawhu mawthiqahum qala Allahu AAala ma naqoolu wakeelun\n66. (Jacob) said: \"Never will I\n Send him with you until\n Ye swear a solemn oath to me,\n In God's name, that ye\n Will be sure to bring him back\n To me unless ye are yourselves\n Hemmed in (and made powerless).\"\n And when they had sworn\n Their solemn oath,\n He said: \"Over all\n That we say, be God\n The Witness and Guardian!\"\n67. Waqala ya baniyya la tadkhuloo min babin wahidin waodkhuloo min abwabin mutafarriqatin wama oghnee AAankum mina Allahi min shay-in ini alhukmu illa lillahi AAalayhi tawakkaltu waAAalayhi falyatawakkali almutawakkiloona\n67. Further he said:\n \"O my sons! enter not\n All by one gate: enter ye\n By different gates. Not that\nI can profit you aught\n Against God (with my advice):\n None can command except God:\n On Him do I put my trust:\n And let all that trust\n Put their trust on Him.\"\n68. Walamma dakhaloo min haythu amarahum aboohum ma kana yughnee AAanhum mina Allahi min shay-in illa hajatan fee nafsi yaAAqooba qadaha wa-innahu lathoo AAilmin lima AAallamnahu walakinna akthara alnnasi la yaAAlamoona\n68. And when they entered\n In the manner their father\n Had enjoined, it did not\n Profit them in the least\n Against (the Plan of) God:\n It was but a necessity\n Of Jacob's soul, which he\n Discharged. For he was,\n By Our instruction, full\n Of knowledge (and experience):\n But most men know not.","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra XII.: Y\u016bsuf, or Joseph.: Section 8 (58-68)","type":"page"}
