Waothkur fee alkitabi maryama ithi intabathat min ahliha makanan sharqiyyan\n16. Relate in the Book\n (The story of) Mary,\n When she withdrew\n From her family\n To a place in the East.\n17. Faittakhathat min doonihim hijaban faarsalna ilayha roohana fatamaththala laha basharan sawiyyan\n17. She placed a screen\n (To screen herself) from them;\n Then We sent to her\n Our angel, and he appeared\n Before her as a man\n In all respects.\n18. Qalat innee aAAoothu bialrrahmani minka in kunta taqiyyan\n18. She said: \"I seek refuge\n From thee to (God)\n Most Gracious: (come not near)\n If thou dost fear God.\"\n19. Qala innama ana rasoolu rabbiki li-ahaba laki ghulaman zakiyyan\n19. He said: \"Nay, I am only\n A messenger from thy Lord,\n (To announce) to thee\n The gift of a holy son.\"\n20. Qalat anna yakoonu lee ghulamun walam yamsasnee basharun walam aku baghiyyan\n20. She said: \"How shall I\n Have a son, seeing that\n No man has touched me,\n And I am not unchaste?\"\n21. Qala kathaliki qala rabbuki huwa AAalayya hayyinun walinajAAalahu ayatan lilnnasi warahmatan minna wakana amran maqdiyyan\n21. He said: \"So (it will be):\n Thy Lord saith, \"That is\n Easy for Me: and (We\n Wish) to appoint him\n As a Sign unto men\n And a Mercy from Us\":\nIt is a matter\n (So) decreed.\"\n22. Fahamalat-hu faintabathat bihi makanan qasiyyan\n22. So she conceived him,\n And she retired with him\n To a remote place.\n23. Faajaaha almakhadu ila jithAAi alnnakhlati qalat ya laytanee mittu qabla hatha wakuntu nasyan mansiyyan\n23. And the pains of childbirth\n Drove her to the trunk\n Of a palm-tree:\n She cried (in her anguish):\n \"Ah! would that I had\n Died before this! would that\n I had been a thing\n Forgotten and out of sight!\"\n24. Fanadaha min tahtiha alla tahzanee qad jaAAala rabbuki tahtaki sariyyan\n24. But (a voice) cried to her\n From beneath the (palm-tree):\n \"Grieve not! for thy Lord\n Hath provided a rivulet\n Beneath thee;\n25. Wahuzzee ilayki bijithAAi alnnakhlati tusaqit AAalayki rutaban janiyyan\n25. \"And shake towards thyself\n The trunk of the palm-tree:\n It will let fall\n Fresh ripe dates upon thee\n26. Faatat bihi qawmaha tahmiluhu qaloo ya maryamu laqad ji/ti shay-an fariyyan\n27. At length she brought\n The (babe) to her people,\n Carrying him (in her arms).\n They said: \"O Mary!\n Truly an amazing thing\n Hast thou brought!\n28. Ya okhta haroona ma kana abooki imraa saw-in wama kanat ommuki baghiyyan\n28. \"O sister of Aaron!\n Thy father was not\n A man of evil, nor thy\n Mother a woman unchaste!\"\n29. Faasharat ilayhi qaloo kayfa nukallimu man kana fee almahdi sabiyyan\n29. But she pointed to the babe.\n They said: \"How can we\n Talk to one who is\n A child in the cradle?\"\n30. Qala innee AAabdu Allahi ataniya alkitaba wajaAAalanee nabiyyan\n30. He said: \"I am indeed\n A servant of God:\n He hath given me\n Revelation and made me\n A prophet;\n31. Thalika AAeesa ibnu maryama qawla alhaqqi allathee feehi yamtaroona\n34. Such (was) Jesus the son\n Of Mary: (it is) a statement\n Of truth, about which\n They (vainly) dispute.\n35. Ma kana lillahi an yattakhitha min waladin subhanahu itha qada amran fa-innama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoonu\n35. It is not befitting\n To (the majesty of) God\n That He should beget\n A son. Glory be to Him!\n When He determines\n A matter, He only says\n To it, \"Be\", and it is.\n36. Wa-inna Allaha rabbee warabbukum faoAAbudoohu hatha siratun mustaqeemun\n36. Verily God is my Lord\n And your Lord: Him\nTherefore serve ye: this is\n A Way that is straight.\n37. Faikhtalafa al-ahzabu min baynihim fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo min mashhadi yawmin AAatheemin\n37. But the sects differ\n Among themselves: and woe\n To the Unbelievers because\n Of the (coming) Judgment\n Of a momentous Day!\n38. AsmiAA bihim waabsir yawma ya/toonana lakini alththalimoona alyawma fee dalalin mubeenin\n38. How plainly will they see\n And hear, the Day that\n They will appear before Us!\n But the unjust to-day\n Are in error manifest!\n39. Waanthirhum yawma alhasrati ith qudiya al-amru wahum fee ghaflatin wahum la yu/minoona\n39. But warn them of the Day\n Of Distress, when\n The matter will be determined:\n For (behold,) they are negligent\n And they do not believe!\n40. Inna nahnu narithu al-arda waman AAalayha wa-ilayna yurjaAAoona\n40. It is We Who will inherit\n The earth, and all beings\n Thereon: to Us will they\n All be returned.","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra XIX.: Maryam, or Mary.: Section 2 (16-40)","type":"page"}
