T\u0101-H\u0101.\n2. Ma anzalna AAalayka alqur-ana litashqa\n2. We have not sent down\n The Qur-\u0101n to thee to be\n (An occasion) for thy distress,\n3. Illa tathkiratan liman yakhsha\n3. But only as an admonition\n To those who fear (God),\u2014\n4. Tanzeelan mimman khalaqa al-arda waalssamawati alAAula\n4. A revelation from Him\n Who created the earth\n And the heavens on high.\n5. Alrrahmanu AAala alAAarshi istawa\n5. (God) Most Gracious\n Is firmly established\n On the throne (of authority).\n6. Lahu ma fee alssamawati wama fee al-ardi wama baynahuma wama tahta alththara\n6. To Him belongs what is\n In the heavens and on earth,\n And all between them,\n And all beneath the soil.\n7. Wa-in tajhar bialqawli fa-innahu yaAAlamu alssirra waakhfa\n7. If thou pronounce the word\n Aloud, (it is no matter):\nFor verily He knoweth\n What is secret and what\n Is yet more hidden.\n8. Allahu la ilaha illa huwa lahu al-asmao alhusna\n8. God! there is no god\n But He! To Him belong\n The Most Beautiful Names.\n9. Has the story of Moses\n Reached thee?\n10. Ith raa naran faqala li-ahlihi omkuthoo innee anastu naran laAAallee ateekum minha biqabasin aw ajidu AAala alnnari hudan\n10. Behold, he saw a fire:\n So he said to his family,\n\"Tarry ye; I perceive\n A fire; perhaps I can\n Bring you some burning brand\n Therefrom, or find some guidance\n At the fire.\"\n11. Falamma ataha noodiya ya moosa\n11. But when he came\n To the fire, a voice\n Was heard: \"O Moses!\n12. Innee ana rabbuka faikhlaAA naAAlayka innaka bialwadi almuqaddasi tuwan\n12. \"Verily I am thy Lord!\n Therefore (in My presence)\n Put off thy shoes: thou art\n In the sacred valley \u1e6cuw\u0101\n13. Waana ikhtartuka faistamiAA lima yooha\n13. \"I have chosen thee:\n Listen, then, to the inspiration\n (Sent to thee).\n14. Innanee ana Allahu la ilaha illa ana faoAAbudnee waaqimi alssalata lithikree\n14. \"Verily, I am God:\n There is no god but I:\n So serve thou Me (only),\n And establish regular prayer\n For celebrating My praise.\n15. Inna alssaAAata atiyatun akadu okhfeeha litujza kullu nafsin bima tasAAa\n15. \"Verily the Hour is coming\u2014\n My design is to keep it\nHidden\u2014for every soul\n To receive its reward\n By the measure of\n Its Endeavour.\n16. Fala yasuddannaka AAanha man la yu/minu biha waittabaAAa hawahu fatarda\n16. \"Therefore let not such as\n Believe not therein\n But follow their own\n Lusts, divert thee therefrom,\n Lest thou perish!\"\u2026\n17. Wama tilka biyameenika ya moosa\n17. \"And what is that\n In thy right hand,\n O Moses?\"\n18. Qala hiya AAasaya atawakkao AAalayha waahushshu biha AAala ghanamee waliya feeha maaribu okhra\n18. He said, \"It is\n My rod: on it\n I lean; with it\n I beat down fodder\n For my flocks; and\n In it I find\n Other uses.\"\n19. (God) said, \"Throw it,\n O Moses!\"\n20. Faalqaha fa-itha hiya hayyatun tasAAa\n20. He threw it, and behold!\n It was a snake,\n Active in motion.\n21. Qala khuthha wala takhaf sanuAAeeduha seerataha al-oola\n21. (God) said, \"Seize it,\n And fear not: We\n Shall return it at once\n To its former condition\"\u2026\n22. Waodmum yadaka ila janahika takhruj baydaa min ghayri soo-in ayatan okhra\n22. \"Now draw thy hand\n Close to thy side:\n It shall come forth white\n (And shining), without harm\n (Or stain),\u2014as another Sign,\u2014\n23. Linuriyaka min ayatina alkubra\n23. \"In order that We\n May show thee\n (Two) of our Greater Signs.\n24.
