Walaqad atayna dawooda wasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdu lillahi allathee faddalana AAala katheerin min AAibadihi almu/mineena\n15. We gave (in the past)\n Knowledge to David and Solomon\n And they both said:\n \"Praise be to God, Who\n Has favoured us above many\n Of His servants who believe!\n16. Wawaritha sulaymanu dawooda waqala ya ayyuha alnnasu AAullimna mantiqa alttayri waooteena min kulli shay-in inna hatha lahuwa alfadlu almubeenu\n16. And Solomon was David's heir.\n He said: \"O ye people!\n We have been taught the speech\"\n Of Birds, and on us\n Has been bestowed (a little)\n Of all things: this is\n Indeed Grace manifest (from God.)\"\n17. Wahushira lisulaymana junooduhu mina aljinni waal-insi waalttayri fahum yoozaAAoona\n17. And before Solomon were marshalled\nHis hosts,\u2014of Jinns and men\n And birds, and they were all\n Kept in order and ranks.\n18. Hatta itha ataw AAala wadi alnnamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuha alnnamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakum sulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroona\n18. At length, when they came\n To a (lowly) valley of ants,\n One of the ants said:\n \"O ye ants, get into\n Your habitations, lest Solomon\n And his hosts crush you\n (Under foot) without knowing it.\"\n19. Fatabassama dahikan min qawliha waqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadika alssaliheena\n19. So he smiled, amused\n At her speech; and he said:\n \"O my Lord! so order me\n That I may be grateful\n For Thy favours, which Thou\n Hast bestowed on me and\n On my parents, and that\n I may work the righteousness\n That will please Thee:\n And admit me, by Thy Grace,\n To the ranks of Thy\n Righteous Servants.\"\n20. Watafaqqada alttayra faqala ma liya la ara alhudhuda am kana mina algha-ibeena\n20. And he took a muster\n Of the Birds; and he said:\n \"Why is it I see not\n The Hoopoe? Or is he\n Among the absentees?\"\n21. LaoAAaththibannahu AAathaban shadeedan aw laathbahannahu aw laya/tiyannee bisultanin mubeenin\n21. \"I will certainly punish him\n With a severe penalty,\n Or execute him, unless he\n Bring me a clear reason\n (For absence).\"\n22. Famakatha ghayra baAAeedin faqala ahattu bima lam tuhit bihi waji/tuka min saba-in binaba-in yaqeenin\n22. But the Hoopoe tarried not\n Far: he (came up and) said:\n \"I have compassed (territory)\n Which thou hast not compassed,\n And I have come to thee\n From Saba with tidings true.\n23. Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyat min kulli shay-in walaha AAarshun AAatheemun\n23. \"I found (there) a woman\n Ruling over them and provided\n With every requisite; and she\n Has a magnificent throne.\n24. Wajadtuha waqawmaha yasjudoona lilshshamsi min dooni Allahi wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli fahum la yahtadoona\n24. \"I found her and her people\n Worshipping the sun besides God:\n Satan has made their deeds\n Seem pleasing in their eyes,\n And has kept them away\n From the Path,\u2014so\n They receive no guidance,\u2014\n25. Alla yasjudoo lillahi allathee yukhriju alkhabaa fee alssamawati waal-ardi wayaAAlamu ma tukhfoona wama tuAAlinoona\n25. \"(Kept them away from the Path),\n That they should not worship\n God, Who brings to light\n What is hidden in the heavens\n And the earth, and knows\n What ye hide and what\n Ye reveal.\n26. Allahu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi\n26. \"God!\u2014there is no god\n But He!\u2014Lord of the Throne's\n Supreme!\"\n27. Qala sananthuru asadaqta am kunta mina alkathibeena\n27. (Solomon) said: \"Soon shall we\n See whether thou hast told\n The truth or lied!\n28. Ithhab bikitabee hatha faalqih ilayhim thumma tawalla AAanhum faonthur matha yarjiAAoona\n28. \"Go thou, with this letter\n Of mine, and deliver it\n To them: then draw back\n From them, and (wait to) see\n What answer they return\"...\n29. Qalat ya ayyuha almalao innee olqiya ilayya kitabun kareemun\n29. (The Queen) said: \"Ye chiefs!\n Here is\u2014delivered to me\u2014\n A letter worthy of respect.\n30. Innahu min sulaymana wa-innahu bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi\n30. \"It is from Solomon, and is\n (As follows), 'In the name\n Of God, Most Gracious,\n Most Merciful:\n31.
