By the Star\n When it goes down,\u2014\n2. Ma dalla sahibukum wama ghawa\n2. Your Companion is neither\n Astray nor being misled,\n3. Nor does he say (aught)\n Of (his own) Desire.\n4. It is no less than\n Inspiration sent down to him:\n5. He was taught by one\n Mighty in Power,\n6. Endued with Wisdom:\n For he appeared\n (In stately form)\n7. While he was in\n The highest part\n Of the horizon:\n8. Then he approached\n And came closer,\n9. Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna\n9. And was at a distance\n Of but two bow-lengths\n Or (even) nearer;\n10. Faawha ila AAabdihi ma awha\n10. So did (God) convey\n The inspiration to His Servant\u2014\n (Conveyed) what He (meant)\n To convey.\n11. Ma kathaba alfu-adu ma raa\n11. The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart\n In no way falsified\n That which he saw.\n12. Afatumaroonahu AAala ma yara\n12. Will ye then dispute\n With him concerning\n What he saw?\n13. Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra\n13. For indeed he saw him\n At a second descent,\n14. Near the Lote-tree\n Beyond which none may pass:\n15. Near it is the Garden\n Of Abode.\n16. Ith yaghsha alssidrata ma yaghsha\n16. Behold, the Lote-tree\n Was shrouded\n (In mystery unspeakable!)\n17. Ma zagha albasaru wama tagha\n17. (His) sight never swerved,\n Nor did it go wrong!\n18. Laqad raa min ayati rabbihi alkubra\n18. For truly did he see,\n Of the Signs of his Lord,\n The Greatest!\n19. Afaraaytumu allata waalAAuzza\n19. Have ye seen\n L\u0101t, and \u2018Uzz\u0101,\n20. Wamanata alththalithata al-okhra\n20. And another,\n The third (goddess), Man\u0101t?\n21. Alakumu alththakaru walahu al-ontha\n21. What! For you\n The male sex,\n And for Him, the female?\n22. Tilka ithan qismatun deeza\n22. Behold, such would be\n Indeed a division\n Most unfair!\n23. In hiya illa asmaon sammaytumooha antum waabaokum ma anzala Allahu biha min sultanin in yattabiAAoona illa alththanna wama tahwa al-anfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda\n23. These are nothing but names\n Which ye have devised,\u2014\n Ye and your fathers,\n For which God has sent\n Down no authority (whatever).\n They follow nothing but\n Conjecture and what\n Their own souls desire!\u2014\n Even though there has already\n Come to them Guidance\n From their Lord!\n24. Nay, shall man have (just)\n Anything he hankers after?\n25. Falillahi al-akhiratu waal-oola\n25.
