Saala sa-ilun biAAathabin waqiAAin\n1. A questioner asked\n About a Penalty\n To befall\u2014\n2. Lilkafireena laysa lahu dafiAAun\n2. The Unbelievers,\n The which there is none\n To ward off,\u2014\n3. Mina Allahi thee almaAAariji\n3. (A Penalty) from God,\n Lord of the Ways\n Of Ascent.\n4. TaAAruju almala-ikatu waalrroohu ilayhi fee yawmin kana miqdaruhu khamseena alfa sanatin\n4. The angels and\n The Spirit ascend\n Unto Him in a Day\n The measure whereof\n Is (as) fifty thousand years:\n5. Therefore do thou hold\n Patience,\u2014a Patience\n Of beautiful (contentment).\n6. Innahum yarawnahu baAAeedan\n6. They see the (Day) indeed\n As a far-off (event):\n7. But We see it\n (Quite) near.\n8. Yawma takoonu alssamao kaalmuhli\n8. The Day that\n The sky will be like\n Molten brass,\n9. Watakoonu aljibalu kaalAAihni\n9. And the mountains will be\n Like wool,\n10. Wala yas-alu hameemun hameeman\n10. And no friend will ask\n After a friend,\n11. Yubassaroonahum yawaddu almujrimu law yaftadee min AAathabi yawmi-ithin bibaneehi\n11. Though they will be put\n In sight of each other,\u2014\n The sinner's desire will be:\n Would that he could\nRedeem himself from\n The Penalty of that Day\n By (sacrificing) his children,\n12. His wife and his brother,\n13. Wafaseelatihi allatee tu/weehi\n13. His kindred who sheltered him,\n14. Waman fee al-ardi jameeAAan thumma yunjeehi\n14. And all, all that is\n On earth,\u2014so it could\n Deliver him:\n15. By no means!\n For it would be\n The Fire of Hell!\u2014\n16. Plucking out (his being)\n Right to the skull!\u2014\n17. TadAAoo man adbara watawalla\n17. Inviting (all) such\n As turn their backs\n And turn away their faces\n (From the Right),\n18. And collect (wealth)\n And hide it (from use)!\n19. Inna al-insana khuliqa halooAAan\n19. Truly man was created\n Very impatient;\u2014\n20. Itha massahu alshsharru jazooAAan\n20. Fretful when evil\n Touches him;\n21. Wa-itha massahu alkhayru manooAAan\n21. And niggardly when\n Good reaches him;\u2014\n22. Not so those devoted\n To Prayer;\u2014\n23. Allatheena hum AAala salatihim da-imoona\n23. Those who remain steadfast\n To their prayer;\n24. Waallatheena fee amwalihim haqqun maAAloomun\n24. And those in whose wealth\n Is a recognised right\n25. For the (needy) who asks\n And him who is prevented\n (For some reason from asking);\n26. Waallatheena yusaddiqoona biyawmi alddeeni\n26. And those who hold\n To the truth of the Day\n Of Judgment;\n27. Waallatheena hum min AAathabi rabbihim mushfiqoona\n27. And those who fear\n The displeasure of their Lord,\u2014\n28. Inna AAathaba rabbihim ghayru ma/moonin\n28. For their Lord's displeasure\n Is the opposite of Peace\n And Tranquillity;\u2014\n29. Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona\n29. And those who guard\n Their chastity,\n30. Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fa-innahum ghayru maloomeena\n30. Except with their wives\n And the (captives) whom\n Their right hands possess,\u2014\n For (then) they are not\n To be blamed,\n31. Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faola-ika humu alAAadoona\n31. But those who trespass\n Beyond this are transgressors;\u2014\n32. Waallatheena hum li-amanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona\n32. And those who respect\n Their trusts and covenants;\n33. Waallatheena hum bishahadatihim qa-imoona\n33. And those who stand firm\n In their testimonies;\n34. Waallatheena hum AAala salatihim yuhafithoona\n34. And those who guard\n (The sacredness) of their\n worship;\u2014\n35. Ola-ika fee jannatin mukramoona\n35.
