Hal ata AAala al-insani heenun mina alddahri lam yakun shay-an mathkooran\n1. Has there not been\n Over Man a long period\n Of Time, when he was\n Nothing\u2014(not even) mentioned?\n2. Inna khalaqna al-insana min nutfatin amshajin nabtaleehi fajaAAalnahu sameeAAan baseeran\n2. Verily We created\n Man from a drop\n Of mingled sperm,\n In order to try him:\n So We gave him (the gifts).\n Of Hearing and Sight.\n3. Inna hadaynahu alssabeela imma shakiran wa-imma kafooran\n3. We showed him, the Way:\n Whether he be grateful\n Or ungrateful (rests\n On his will).\n4. Inna aAAtadna lilkafireena salasila waaghlalan wasaAAeeran\n4. For the Rejecters\n We have prepared\nChains, Yokes, and\n A Blazing Fire.\n5. Inna al-abrara yashraboona min ka/sin kana mizajuha kafooran\n5. As to the Righteous,\n They shall drink\n Of a Cup (of Wine)\n Mixed with K\u0101f\u016br,\u2014\n6. AAaynan yashrabu biha AAibadu Allahi yufajjiroonaha tafjeeran\n6. A Fountain where\n The Devotees of God\n Do drink, making it\n Flow in unstinted abundance.\n7. Yoofoona bialnnathri wayakhafoona yawman kana sharruhu mustateeran\n7. They perform (their) vows,\n And they fear a Day\n Whose evil flies far and wide.\n8. WayutAAimona alttaAAama AAala hubbihi miskeenan wayateeman waaseeran\n8. And they feed, for the love\n Of God, the indigent,\n The orphan, and the captive,\u2014\n9. Innama nutAAimukum liwajhi Allahi la nureedu minkum jazaan wala shukooran\n9. (Saying), \"We feed you\n For the sake of God alone:\n No reward do we desire\n From you, nor thanks.\n10. Inna nakhafu min rabbina yawman AAaboosan qamtareeran\n10. \"We only fear a Day\n Of distressful Wrath\n From the side of our Lord.\"\n11. Fawaqahumu Allahu sharra thalika alyawmi walaqqahum nadratan wasurooran\n11. But God will deliver\n Them from the evil\n Of that Day, and will\n Shed over them a Light\n Of Beauty and\n A (blissful) Joy.\n12. Wajazahum bima sabaroo jannatan wahareeran\n12. And because they were\n Patient and constant, He will\n Reward them with a Garden\n And (garments of) silk.\n13. Muttaki-eena feeha AAala al-ara-iki la yarawna feeha shamsan wala zamhareeran\n13. Reclining in the (Garden)\n On raised thrones,\n They will see there neither\n The sun's (excessive heat)\n Nor (the moon's) excessive cold.\n14. Wadaniyatan AAalayhim thilaluha wathullilat qutoofuha tathleelan\n14. And the shades of the (Garden)\n Will come low over them,\n And the bunches (of fruit),\n There, will hang low\n In humility.\n15. Wayutafu AAalayhim bi-aniyatin min fiddatin waakwabin kanat qawareera\n15. And amongst them will be\n Passed round vessels of silver\n And goblets of crystal,\u2014\n16. Qawareera min fiddatin qaddarooha taqdeeran\n16. Crystal-clear, made of silver:\n They will determine\n The measure thereof\n (According to their wishes).\n17. Wayusqawna feeha ka/san kana mizajuha zanjabeelan\n17. And they will be given\n To drink there of a Cup\n (Of Wine) mixed\n With Zanja\u1e05\u012bl,\u2014\n18. AAaynan feeha tusamma salsabeelan\n18. A fountain there,\n Called Salsab\u012bl.\n19. Wayatoofu AAalayhim wildanun mukhalladoona itha raaytahum hasibtahum lu/lu-an manthooran\n19. And round about them\n Will (serve) youths\n Of perpetual (freshness):\n If thou seest them,\n Thou wouldst think them\n Scattered Pearls.\n20. Wa-itha raayta thamma raayta naAAeeman wamulkan kabeeran\n20. And when thou lookest,\n It is there thou wilt see\nA Bliss and\n A Realm Magnificent.\n21. AAaliyahum thiyabu sundusin khudrun wa-istabraqun wahulloo asawira min fiddatin wasaqahum rabbuhum sharaban tahooran\n21. Upon them will be\n Green Garments of fine silk\n And heavy brocade,\n And they will be adorned\n With Bracelets of silver;\n And their Lord will\n Give to them to drink\n Of a Wine\n Pure and Holy.\n22.
