By the Break of Day;\n2. By the Nights twice five;\n3. By the Even\n And Odd (contrasted);\n4. And by the Night\n When it passeth away;\u2014\n5. Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijrin\n5. Is there (not) in these\n An adjuration (or evidence)\n For those who understand?\n6. Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAadin\n6. Seest thou not\n How thy Lord dealt\n With the \u2018\u0100d (people),\u2014\n7. Of the (city of) Iram,\n With lofty pillars,\n8. Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albiladi\n8. The like of which\n Were not produced\n In (all) the land?\n9. Wathamooda allatheena jaboo alssakhra bialwadi\n9. And with the Tham\u016bd\n (People), who cut out\n (Huge) rocks in the-valley?\u2014\n10. WafirAAawna thee al-awtadi\n10. And with Pharaoh,\n Lord of Stakes?\n11. Allatheena taghaw fee albiladi\n11. (All) these transgressed\n Beyond bounds in the lands.\n12. And heaped therein\n Mischief (on mischief).\n13. Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawta AAathabin\n13. Therefore did thy Lord\n Pour on them a scourge\n Of diverse chastisements:\n14. Inna rabbaka labialmirsadi\n14. For thy Lord is\n (As a Guardian)\n On a watch-tower.\n15. Faamma al-insanu itha ma ibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbee akramani\n15. Now, as for man,\n When his Lord trieth him,\n Giving him honour and gifts,\n Then saith he, (puffed up),\n \"My Lord hath honoured me\"\n16. Waamma itha ma ibtalahu faqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanani\n16. But when he trieth him,\n Restricting his subsistence\n For him, then saith he\n (In despair), \"My Lord\n Hath humiliated me I.\"\n17. Kalla bal la tukrimoona alyateema\n17. Nay, nay! But ye\n Honour not the orphans!\n18. Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAami almiskeeni\n18. Nor do ye encourage\n One another\n To feed the poor!\u2014\n19. Wata/kuloona altturatha aklan lamman\n19. And ye devour Inheritance\u2014\n All with greed,\n20. Watuhibboona almala hubban jamman\n20. And ye love wealth\n With inordinate love!\n21. Kalla itha dukkati al-ardu dakkan dakkan\n21. Nay! When the earth\n Is pounded to powder,\n22. Wajaa rabbuka waalmalaku saffan saffan\n22. And thy Lord cometh,\n And His angels,\n Rank upon rank,\n23. Wajee-a yawma-ithin bijahannama yawma-ithin yatathakkaru al-insanu waanna lahu alththikra\n23. And Hell, that Day,\n Is brought (face to face),\u2014\n On that Day will man\n Remember, but how will\n That remembrance profit him?\n24. Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee\n24. He will say: \"Ah!\n Would that I had\n Sent forth (Good Deeds)\n For (this) my (Future) Life!\"\n25. Fayawma-ithin la yuAAaththibu AAathabahu ahadun\n25. For, that Day,\n His Chastisement will be\nSuch as none (else)\n Can inflict,\n26. Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahadun\n26. And His bonds\n Will be such as\n None (other) can bind.\n27. Ya ayyatuha alnnafsu almutma-innatu\n27. (To the righteous soul\n Will be said:)\n \"O (thou) soul,\n In (complete) rest\n And satisfaction!\n28. IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatan mardiyyatan\n28. \"Come back thou\n To thy Lord,\u2014\n Well pleased (thyself),\n And well-pleasing\n Unto Him!\n29. \"Enter thou, then,\n Among my Devotees!\n30. \"Yea, enter thou\n My Heaven!","title":"The Quran: S\u016bra LXXXIX.: Fajr, or The Break of Day.:...","type":"page"}
