By the Night as it\n Conceals (the light);\n2. By the Day as it\n Appears in glory;\n3. Wama khalaqa alththakara waal-ontha\n3. By (the mystery of)\n The creation of male\n And female;\u2014\n4. Verily, (the ends) ye\n Strive for are diverse.\n5. So he who gives\n (In charity) and fears (God),\n6. And (in all sincerity)\n Testifies to the Best,\u2014\n7. We will indeed\n Make smooth for him\n The path to Bliss,\n8. Waamma man bakhila waistaghna\n8. But he who is\n A greedy miser\n And thinks himself\n Self-sufficient,\n9. And gives the lie\n To the Best,\u2014\n10. We will indeed\n Make smooth for him\n The Path to Misery;\n11. Wama yughnee AAanhu maluhu itha taradda\n11. Nor will his wealth\n Profit him when he\n Falls headlong (into the Pit).\n12. Verily We take\n Upon Ourselves to guide,\n13. Wa-inna lana lal-akhirata waal-oola\n13. And verily unto Us\n (Belong) the End\n And the Beginning,\n14. Faanthartukum naran talaththa\n14. Therefore do I warn you\n Of a Fire blazing fiercely;\n15. None shall reach it\n But those most unfortunate ones\n16. Allathee kaththaba watawalla\n16. Who give the lie to Truth\n And turn their backs.\n17. But those most devoted\n To God shall be\n Removed far from it,\u2014\n18. Allathee yu/tee malahu yatazakka\n18. Those who spend their wealth\n For increase in self-purification,\n19. Wama li-ahadin AAindahu min niAAmatin tujza\n19. And have in their minds\n No favour from anyone\n For which a reward\n Is expected in return,\n20. Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihi al-aAAla\n20. But only the desire\n To seek for the Countenance\n Of their Lord Most High;\n21.
