{"collection":"Islam","html_url":"https://unchartedknowledge.5gfusion.net/browse/isl/uq/index.htm","path":"isl/uq/index.htm","source_url":"https://sacred-texts.com/isl/uq/index.htm","text":"This is the Qur'an in Arabic, presented using Unicode.\nThe Unicode Arabic is displayed in parallel\nwith a transliteration into modified International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).\nThe IPA transliteration is not a\npronunciation guide.\nRather, it is a mechanical conversion of the Arabic, letter by letter,\ninto equivalent IPA characters.\nAlef is transliterated by a single quote; double letters are indicated by\na following colon (:), some Arabic letters do\nnot have any equivalent in the transliteration.\nThe system used is documented in the\nTransliteration table.\nNote that since the transliteration is not exactly one-to-one, the Arabic\ntext should be treated as primary, and the transliteration\nas a study aid.\nThe file titles, which do not have any vowels in them, are also\ntransliterated automatically using the same system.\nIf you have problems viewing the Unicode Arabic, please refer to\nthe Sacred-texts Unicode page.\nNote that not all Unicode fonts will display this text completely.\nWe have found that Code 2000 displays some of the Arabic characters as\nboxes: the Microsoft Arial Unicode MS font, on the other hand,\nseems to be able to display all of the characters used in this text.\nSince Unicode support for Arabic is still evolving, we also\nhave a version of the Quran in Arabic\nwhich uses GIF files to display the Arabic text.","title":"Unicode Qur'an Index","type":"page"}
