A revelation from (God).\n Most Gracious, Most Merciful\u2014\n3. A Book, whereof the verses\n Are explained in detail;\u2014\n A Qur-\u0101n in Arabic,\n For people who understand;\u2014\n4. Giving Good News\n And Admonition: yet most\n Of them turn away\n And so they hear not.\n5. They say: \"Our hearts are\n Under veils, (concealed)\n From that to which thou\n Dost invite us, and\n In our ears is a deafness,\n And between us and thee\n Is a screen: so do\n Thou (what thou wilt);\nFor us, we shall do\n (What we will!)\"\n6. Say thou: \"I am\n But a man like you:\n It is revealed to me\n By inspiration, that your God\n Is One God: so stand\n True to Him, and ask\n For His forgiveness.\"\n And woe to those who\n Join gods with God,\u2014\n7. Those who practise not\n Regular Charity, and who\n Even deny the Hereafter.\n8. For those who believe\n And work deeds of righteousness\n Is a reward that will\n Never fail.\n9. Say: Is it that ye\n Deny Him Who created\n The earth in two Days?\n And do ye join equals\n With Him? He is\n The Lord of (all)\n The Worlds.\n10. He set on the (earth),\n Mountains standing firm,\n High above it,\n And bestowed blessings on\n The earth, and measured therein\n All things to give them\n Nourishment in due proportion,\n In four Days, in accordance\n With (the needs of)\n Those who seek (sustenance).\n11. Moreover He comprehended\n In His design the sky,\n And it had been (as) smoke:\n He said to it\n And to the earth:\n \"Come ye together,\n Willingly or unwillingly.\"\n They said: \"We do come\n (Together), in willing obedience.\"\n12. So he completed them\n As seven firmaments\nIn two Days, and He\n Assigned to each heaven\n Its duty and command.\n And We adorned\n The lower heaven\n With lights, and (provided it)\n With guard. Such\n Is the Decree of (Him)\n The Exalted in Might,\n Full of knowledge.\n13. But if they turn away,\n Say thou: \"I have warned\n You of a stunning Punishment\n (As of thunder and lightning)\n Like that which (overtook)\n The \u2018\u0100d and the Tham\u016bd!\"\n14. Behold, the apostles came\n To them, from before them\n And behind them, (preaching):\n \"Serve none but God.\"\n They said, \"If our Lord\n Had so pleased, He would\nCertainly have sent down angels\n (To preach): now we reject\n Your mission (altogether).\"\n15. Now the \u2018\u0100d behaved\n Arrogantly through the land,\n Against (all) truth and reason,\n And said: \"Who is superior\n To us in strength?\" What!\n Did they not see that\n God, Who created them,\n Was superior to them\n In strength? But they\n Continued to reject Our Signs!\n16. So We sent against them\n A furious Wind through days\n Of disaster, that We might\n Give them a taste\n Of a Penalty of humiliation\n In this Life; but the Penalty\n Of a Hereafter will be\n More humiliating still:\n And they will find\n No help.\n17. As to the Tham\u016bd,\n We gave them guidance,\n But they preferred blindness\n (Of heart) to Guidance:\n So the stunning Punishment\n Of humiliation seized them,\n Because of what they had earned.\n18. But We delivered those\n Who believed and practised righteousness.\n19. On the Day that\n The enemies of God\n Will be gathered together\n To the Fire, they will\n Be marched in ranks.\n20. At length, when they reach\n The (Fire), their hearing,\n Their sight, and their skins\n Will bear witness against them,\n As to (all) their deeds.\n21. They will say to their skins:\n \"Why bear ye witness\n Against us?\" They will say:\n \"God hath given us speech,\u2014\n (He) Who giveth speech\n To everything: He created\n You for the first time,\n And unto Him were ye\n To return.\n22. \"Ye did not seek\n To hide yourselves, lest\nYour hearing, your sight,\n And your skins should bear\n Witness against you! But\n Ye did think that God\n Knew not many of the things\n That ye used to do!\n23. \"But this thought of yours\n Which ye did entertain\n Concerning your Lord, hath\n Brought you to destruction,\n And (now) have ye become\n Of those utterly lost!\"\n24. If, then, they have patience,\n The Fire will be\n A Home for them!\n And if they beg\n To be received into favour,\n Into favour will they not\n (Then) be received.\n25. And We have destined\n For them intimate companions\n (Of like nature), who made\n Alluring to them what was\n Before them and behind them;\n And the sentence among\n The previous generations of Jinns\n And men; who have passed away,\nIs proved against them;\n For they are utterly lost.\n26. The Unbelievers say\n \"Listen not to this Qur-\u0101n,\n But talk at random\n In the midst\n Of its (reading), that ye\n May gain the upper hand!\"\n27. But We will certainly\n Give the Unbelievers a taste\n Of a severe Penalty,\n And We will requite them\n For the worst of their deeds.\n28. Such is the requital\n Of the enemies of God,\u2014\n The Fire: therein will be\n For them the Eternal Home:\n A (fit) requital, for\n That they were wont\n To reject Our Signs.\n29. And the Unbelievers will say:\n \"Our Lord! Show us those,\n Among Jinns and men,\n Who misled us: we shall\n Crush them beneath our feet,\n So that they become\n The vilest (before all).\"\n30. In the case of those\n Who say, \"Our Lord\nIs God\", and, further,\n Stand straight and steadfast,\n The angels descend on them.\n (From time to time):\n \"Fear ye not!\" (they suggest),\n \"Nor grieve! But receive\n The Glad Tidings\n Of the Garden (of Bliss),\n The which ye were promised!\n31. \"We are your protectors\n In this life and\n In the Hereafter:\n Therein shall ye have\n All that your souls\n Shall desire; therein\n Shall ye have all\n That ye ask for!\u2014\n32. \"A hospitable gift from One\n Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful!\"\n33. Who is better in speech\n Than one who calls (men)\n To God, works righteousness,\n And says, \"I am of those\n Who bow in Islam\"?\n34. Nor can Goodness and Evil\n Be equal. Repel (Evil)\n With what is better:\n Then will he between whom\n And thee was hatred\n Become as it were\n Thy friend and intimate!\n35. And no one will be\n Granted such goodness\n Except those who exercise\n Patience and self-restraint,\u2014\n None but persons of\n The greatest good fortune.\n36. And if (at any time)\n An incitement to discord\n Is made to thee\n By the Evil One,\n Seek refuge in God.\n He is the One\n Who hears and knows\n All things.\n37. Among His Signs are\n The Night and the Day,\n And the Sun and the Moon.\n Adore not the sun\n And the moon, but adore\n God, Who created them,\n If it is. Him ye wish\n To serve.\n38. But if the (Unbelievers)\n Are arrogant, (no matter):\n For in the presence\n Of thy Lord are those\n Who celebrate His praises\n By night and by day.\n And they never flag\n (Nor feel themselves\n Above it).\n39. And among His Signs\n In this: thou seest\n The earth barren and desolate;\n But when We send down\n Rain to it, it is stirred\n To life and yields increase.\n Truly, He Who gives life\n To the (dead) earth\n Can surely give life\n To (men) who are dead.\n For He has power\n Over all things.\n40. Those who pervert\n The Truth in Our Signs\n Are not hidden from Us.\n Which is better?\u2014he that\n Is cast into the Fire,\n Or he that comes safe through,\n On the Day of Judgment?\n Do what ye will:\n Verily He seeth (clearly)\n All that ye do.\n41. Those who reject the Message\n When it comes to them\n(Are not hidden from Us).\n And indeed it is a Book\n Of exalted power.\n42. No falsehood can approach it\n From before or behind it:\n It is sent down\n By One Full of Wisdom,\n Worthy of all Praise.\n43. Nothing is said to thee\n That was not said\n To the apostles before thee:\n That thy Lord has\n At His command (all) Forgiveness\n As well as a most\n Grievous Penalty.\n44. Had We sent this as\n A Qur-\u0101n (in a language)\n Other than Arabic, they would\n Have said: \"Why are not\n Its verses explained in detail?\n What! (a Book) not in Arabic\n And (a Messenger) an Arab?\"\n Say: \"It is a guide\nAnd a healing to those\n Who believe; and for those\n Who believe not, there is\n A deafness in their ears,\n And it is blindness in their (eyes):\n They are (as it were)\n Being called from a place\n Far distant!\"\n45. We certainly gave Moses\n The Book aforetime: but disputes\n Arose therein. Had it not\n Been for a Word\n That went forth before\n From thy Lord, (their differences)\n Would have been settled\n Between them: but they\n Remained in suspicious\n Disquieting doubt thereon.\n46. Whoever works righteousness\n Benefits his own soul;\n Whoever works evil, it is\n Against his own soul:\n Nor is thy Lord ever\n Unjust (in the least)\n To His servants.\n47. To Him is referred\n The Knowledge of the Hour\n (Of Judgment: He knows all):\n No date-fruit comes out\n Of its sheath, nor does\n A female conceive (within\n Her womb) nor bring forth\n (Young), but by His Knowledge.\n The Day that (God) will propound\n To them the (question),\n \"Where are the Partners\n (Ye attributed) to Me?\"\n They will say, \"We do\n Assure Thee not one\n Of us can bear witness!\"\n48. The (deities) they used to invoke\n Aforetime will leave them\n In the lurch, and they\n Will perceive that they\n Have no way of escape.\n49. Man does not weary\n Of asking for good (things),\n But if ill touches him,\n He gives up all hope\n (And) is lost in despair.\n50. When We give him a taste\n Of some mercy from Ourselves.\nAfter some adversity has\n Touched him, he is sure\n To say, \"This is due\n To my (merit): I think not\n That the Hour (of Judgment)\n Will (ever) be established;\n But if I am brought back\n To my Lord, I have\n (Much) good (stored) in His sight!\"\n But We will show\n The Unbelievers the truth\n Of all that they did,\n And We shall give them\n The taste of a severe\n Penalty.\n51. When We bestow favours\n On man, he turns away,\n And gets himself remote\n On his side (instead of'\n Coming to Us); and when\n Evil seizes him, (he comes)\n Full of prolonged prayer!\n52. Say: \"See ye if\n The (Revelation) is (really)\n From God, and yet do ye\n Reject it? Who is more\n Astray than one who\n Is in a schism\n Far (from any purpose)?\"\n53. Soon will We show them\n Our Signs in the (furthest)\nRegions (of the earth), and\n In their own souls, until\n It becomes manifest to them\n That this is the Truth.\n Is it not enough that\n Thy Lord doth witness\n All things?\n54. Ah indeed! are they\n In doubt concerning\n The Meeting with their Lord?\n Ah indeed! it is He\n That doth encompass\n All things!","title":"The Holy Quran: S\u016bra XLI.
