Q\u0101f.\nBy the Glorious Qur-\u0101n\n (Thou art God's Apostle).\n2. But they wonder that\n There has come to them\n A Warner from among\n Themselves.\n So the Unbelievers say:\n \"This is a wonderful thing!\n3. \"What! When we die\n And become dust, (shall we\n Live again?) That is\n A (sort of) Return\n Far (from our understanding).\"\n4. We already know\n How much of them\n The earth takes away:\n With Us is a Record\n Guarding (the full account).\n5. But they deny the truth\n When it comes to them:\n So they are in\n A confused state.\n6. Do they not look\n At the sky above them?\u2014\n How We have made it\n And adorned it,\n And there are no\n Flaws in it?\n7. And the earth\u2014\n We have spread it out,\n And set thereon mountains\n Standing firm, and produced\n Therein every kind of\n Beautiful growth (in pairs)\u2014\n8. To be observed\n And commemorated\n By every devotee\n Turning (to God).\n9. And We send down\n From the sky Rain\n Charged with blessing,\n And We produce therewith\n Gardens and Grain for harvests;\n10. And tall (and stately)\n Palm-trees, with shoots\n Of fruit-stalks, piled\n One over another;\u2014\n11, As sustenance for\n (God's) Servants;\u2014\n And We give (new) life\n Therewith to land that is\n Dead: thus will be\n The Resurrection.\n12. Before them was denied\n (The Hereafter) by the People\n Of Noah, the Companions\n Of the Rass, the Tham\u016bd,\n13. The \u2018\u0100d, Pharaoh,\n The Brethren of L\u016b\u1e6d,\n14. The Companions of the Wood,\n And the People of Tubba\u2018;\n Each one (of them) rejected\n The apostles, and My warning\n Was duly fulfilled (in them).\n15. Were We then weary\n With the first Creation,\n That they should be\n In confused doubt\n About a new Creation?\n16. It was We Who\n Created man, and We know\n What dark suggestions his soul\n Makes to him: for We\n Are nearer to him\n Than (his) jugular vein.\n17. Behold, two (guardian angels)\n Appointed to learn (his doings)\n Learn (and note them),\n One sitting on the right\n And one on the left.\n18. Not a word does he\n Utter but there is\n A sentinel by him,\n Ready (to note it).\n19. And the stupor of death\n Will bring truth (before\n His eyes): \"This was\n The thing which thou\n Wast trying to escape!\"\n20. And the Trumpet\n Shall be blown:\n That will be the Day\n Whereof Warning (had been given).\n21. And there will come forth\n Every soul: with each\n Will be an (angel) to drive,\n And an (angel) to\n Bear witness.\n22. (It will be said:)\n \"Thou wast heedless\n Of this; now have We\n Removed thy veil,\nAnd sharp is thy sight\n This Day!\"\n23. And his Companion will say:\n \"Here is (his Record) ready\n With me!\"\n24. (The sentence will be:)\n \"Throw, throw into Hell\n Every contumacious Rejecter\n (Of God)!\u2014\n25. \"Who forbade what was good,\n Transgressed all bounds,\n Cast doubts and suspicions;\n26. \"Who set up another god\n Beside God: throw him\n Into a severe Penalty.\"\n27. His Companion will say:\n \"Our Lord! I did not\n Make him transgress,\n But he was (himself)\n Far astray.\"\n28. He will say: \"Dispute not\n With each other\n In My Presence:\n I had already in advance\n Sent you Warning.\n29. \"The Word changes not\n Before Me, and I do not\n The least injustice\n To My Servants.\"\n30. One Day We will\n Ask Hell, \"Art thou\n Filled to the full?\"\n It will say, \"Are there\n Any more (to come)?\"\n31. And the Garden\n Will be brought nigh\nTo the Righteous,\u2014no more\n A thing distant.\n32. (A voice will say:)\n \"This is what was\n Promised for you,\n For every one who turned\n (To God) in sincere repentance,\n Who kept (His Law),\n33. \"Who feared (God)\n Most Gracious unseen,\n And brought a heart\n Turned in devotion (to Him):\n34. \"Enter ye therein\n In Peace and Security;\n This is a Day\n Of Eternal Life!\"\n35. There will be for them\n Therein all that they wish,\u2014\n And more besides\n In Our Presence,\n36. But how many\n Generations before them\n Did We destroy (for their\n Sins),\u2014stronger in power\n Than they? Then did they\n Wander through the land:\n Was there any place\n Of escape (for them)?\n37. Verily in this\n Is a Message\n For any that has\n A heart and understanding\n Or who gives ear and\n Earnestly witnesses (the truth).\n38. We created the heavens\n And the earth and all\n Between them in Six Days,\n Nor did any sense\n Of weariness touch Us.\n39. Bear, then, with patience,\n All that they say,\n And celebrate the praises\n Of thy Lord, before\n The rising of the sun\n And before (its) setting,\n40. And during part\n Of the night, (also,)\n Celebrate His praises,\n And (so likewise)\n After the postures\n Of adoration.\n41. And listen for the Day\n When the Caller will call\n Out from a place\n Quite near,\u2014\n42. The Day when they will\n Hear a (mighty) Blast\n In (very) truth: that\n Will be the Day\n Of Resurrection.\n43. Verily it is We Who\n Give Life and Death;\n And to Us is\n The Final Goal\u2014\n44. The Day when\n The Earth will be\n Rent asunder, from (men)\n Hurrying out: that will be\n A gathering together,\u2014\n Quite easy for Us.\n45. We know best what they\n Say; and thou art not\n One to overawe them\n By force. So admonish\n With the Qur-\u0101n such\n As fear My Warning!","title":"The Holy Quran: S\u016bra L.
