A questioner asked\n About a Penalty\n To befall\u2014\n2. The Unbelievers,\n The which there is none\n To ward off,\u2014\n3. (A Penalty) from God,\n Lord of the Ways\n Of Ascent.\n4. The angels and\n The Spirit ascend\n Unto Him in a Day\n The measure whereof\n Is (as) fifty thousand years:\n5. Therefore do thou hold\n Patience,\u2014a Patience\n Of beautiful (contentment).\n6. They see the (Day) indeed\n As a far-off (event):\n7. But We see it\n (Quite) near.\n8. The Day that\n The sky will be like\n Molten brass,\n9. And the mountains will be\n Like wool,\n10. And no friend will ask\n After a friend,\n11. Though they will be put\n In sight of each other,\u2014\n The sinner's desire will be:\n Would that he could\nRedeem himself from\n The Penalty of that Day\n By (sacrificing) his children,\n12. His wife and his brother,\n13. His kindred who sheltered him,\n14. And all, all that is\n On earth,\u2014so it could\n Deliver him:\n15. By no means!\n For it would be\n The Fire of Hell!\u2014\n16. Plucking out (his being)\n Right to the skull!\u2014\n17. Inviting (all) such\n As turn their backs\n And turn away their faces\n (From the Right),\n18. And collect (wealth)\n And hide it (from use)!\n19. Truly man was created\n Very impatient;\u2014\n20. Fretful when evil\n Touches him;\n21. And niggardly when\n Good reaches him;\u2014\n22. Not so those devoted\n To Prayer;\u2014\n23. Those who remain steadfast\n To their prayer;\n24. And those in whose wealth\n Is a recognised right\n25. For the (needy) who asks\n And him who is prevented\n (For some reason from asking);\n26. And those who hold\n To the truth of the Day\n Of Judgment;\n27. And those who fear\n The displeasure of their Lord,\u2014\n28. For their Lord's displeasure\n Is the opposite of Peace\n And Tranquillity;\u2014\n29. And those who guard\n Their chastity,\n30. Except with their wives\n And the (captives) whom\n Their right hands possess,\u2014\n For (then) they are not\n To be blamed,\n31. But those who trespass\n Beyond this are transgressors;\u2014\n32. And those who respect\n Their trusts and covenants;\n33. And those who stand firm\n In their testimonies;\n34. And those who guard\n (The sacredness) of their\n worship;\u2014\n35. Such will be\n The honoured ones\n In the Gardens (of Bliss).\n36. Now what is\n The matter with the Unbelievers\n That they rush madly\n Before thee\u2014\n37. From the right\n And from the left,\n In crowds?\n38. Does every man of them\n Long to enter\n The Garden of Bliss?\n39. By no means!\n For We have created them\n Out of the (base matter)\n They know!\n40. Now I do\n Call to witness\nThe Lord of all points\n In the East and the West\n That We can certainly\u2014\n41. Substitute for them\n Better (men) than they;\n And We are not\n To be defeated\n (In Our Plan).\n42. So leave them\n To plunge in vain talk\n And play about,\n Until they encounter\n That Day of theirs which\n They have been promised!\u2014\n43. The Day whereon\n They will issue\n From their sepulchres\n In sudden haste\n As if they were\n Rushing to a goal-post\n (Fixed for them),\u2014\n44. Their eyes lowered\n In dejection,\n Ignominy covering them\n (All over)!\n Such is the Day\n The which they\n Are promised!","title":"The Holy Quran: S\u016bra LXX.
