Stanton concluded that 'the Bible\nin its teachings degrades Women from Genesis to Revelation'.\nHowever she and the other contributors found much to admire in the Bible,\nparticularly some of the Old Testament women.\nWhile many of her views are still controversial, time and advances\nin womens' rights have lessened some of the shock value of this book.\nStanton doesn't go as far as some modern feminist theologians and\nproclaim 'God is a woman', but there are several contributions\nwhich discuss the gender of the 'Elohim' and the female\naspects of the Kabbalah.\nThe book is very readable and entertaining, despite occasional\nreferences to now-moot 19th Century political issues\n(such as temperance and bimetallism).","title":"The Woman's Bible Index","type":"page"}
